I create epic storytelling | Founder, Branding + Marketing Agency + NLP Coach + Speaker |🎙️F*ck Saving Face podcast | 📚Simon & Schuster Author | Featured in NASDAQ & Fast Company | 2023 Tory Burch Foundation Fellow
What's it like to create a 19,000+% increase in helping your clients reach clients? It looks a bit like this. Not every client starts big. Some start from 0. And, when we help create results like this, we celebrate — and track — what it means for their business. One of the things I learned in my Tory Burch Foundation Advisory call this last week from Gay Gaddis is that a secret to scaling is to get ALL the data. As a creative, that can be a growing edge. Thankfully, each of my team members thinks as strategically as we do creatively. We heard her advice and got right down to it. What wins are you celebrating this week? #brandingagency #marketingagency #aanhpi #womenfounder #womeninbusiness #marketingtips

Our workplaces are changing. In these post-pandemic times, corporate offices have become largely hybrid with a significant number of remote employees. This great read spotlights not only the benefits DE&I brings to productivity and the bottom line, but also the larger benefits for our society through "proximity" that allows us to connect to each other's stories. In a largely virtual workplace, fostering these connections requires focused efforts to build workplace culture and community outside of the traditional office. From connecting customers to a brand to connecting employees to a mission, connection is powerful! When we create an environment encouraging employees to connect to one another, we ensure the principles of connection are interwoven into all aspects of a company. Strengthening human connection drives improved performance and ultimately strengthens the bottom line. We should embrace this--it's a true win-win!
As chief diversity officer at Walgreens, I learned a hard truth: DEI programs aren't working.

🛡️ Protecting Inclusion: Why Equity Matters More Than Ever Hello everyone, In a troubling move this week, SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) announced they are rebranding their initiatives from DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) to just D&I, dropping the crucial component of Equity. What is Equity? Equity ensures everyone has what they need to achieve personal and organizational success. Without it, true inclusion is impossible. For many corporate leaders, disconnecting from broader societal issues is seen as a survival mechanism. However, the decision to abandon basic programs supporting historically underrepresented people is deeply concerning. A Timeline of Attacks on Equity and Inclusion: -Black Lives Matter Protests: Initial attacks began here. -Critical Race Theory (CRT): Legal theory became a target. -Anti-Trans Movement: Continued with attacks on Trans rights. -AP College Credit Board: Efforts to exclude Black History from being taught. -Corporate DEI Initiatives: The latest target in this ongoing struggle. As SHRM takes this step, it's important to stay informed and equipped. Our latest newsletter offers practical tips for assessing workplace inclusivity and a cross-cultural roundup to help you navigate and protect your career in these challenging times. 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/e8dBTZaN Let's stand together to ensure equity remains at the forefront of our inclusion efforts. #DEI #EquityMatters #Inclusion #WorkplaceDiversity #CorporateResponsibility #Leadership #CareerSuccess #PerspectivesMedia #SocialJustice #ProtectInclusion #EquityInAction

Surprisingly, most consumers don’t notice if a brand has diversity in their advertisements – it’s the new norm. Consumers recognize the importance of brands portraying diverse people, but it should be intrinsic, not forced. Overtly communicating DE&I can feel inauthentic and just ‘riding a trend’. We often see brands struggle to strike a balance between ‘screaming’ diversity and the subtle, authenticity consumers seek. How can you make your DE&I marketing feel more genuine? 👉Consistency is key Consumers prefer brands to either fully commit or not at all. Consumers dislike when brands speak to Gay Pride or Diversity during Pride week or Black history month, respectively. The expectation is for this type of messaging to be year-round or non-existent. 👉You don't have to weigh in on every topic Staying attuned to societal changes is great, but consumers also look at a brand's social activism history. They are more annoyed when brands suddenly take stances on "hot topics" without prior background. 👉Focusing on local efforts can make a difference Consumers value community involvement over national-level claims of inclusivity. They want to feel a personal connection to a brand's DEI efforts rather than seeing money donated to abstract causes. Balancing DEI and authenticity may be challenging, but it's vital for building customer trust. #dei #diversity #inclusion #advertising #marketing

Today kicks off National Hispanic Heritage Awareness Month (September 15- October 15) ! Leaders play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. Here are my top 5 ways leaders can encourage and celebrate Hispanic Awareness Month within their organizations: Acknowledge and Educate: Begin by acknowledging the significance of Hispanic Awareness Month and its importance in celebrating the Hispanic culture and contributions. Send out a company-wide message or hold a team meeting to kick off the month. Offer educational resources, such as books, articles, documentaries, or guest speakers, to help employees learn more about Hispanic history, culture, and achievements. Employee Resource Groups (ERGs): If your organization has Hispanic employee resource groups or affinity networks, actively support and promote their events and initiatives during this month. Encourage the formation of ERGs if they do not exist, providing a platform for employees to connect, share experiences, and celebrate their heritage. Cultural Celebrations: Organize cultural celebrations and events that highlight Hispanic traditions, such as music, dance, art exhibitions, or food tastings. These activities can foster a sense of belonging and appreciation among employees. Consider providing employees with the opportunity to share their own cultural experiences and talents during these events. Learning and Development: Offer workshops or training sessions focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) that specifically address Hispanic culture, experiences, and perspectives. Encourage employees to participate in language courses or cultural sensitivity training to promote better understanding and communication. Community Engagement: Promote volunteer opportunities or community outreach initiatives that support Hispanic causes or organizations. Encourage employees to get involved and make a positive impact. Consider partnering with local Hispanic nonprofits or charities and provide support through donations or volunteering efforts. It's important for leaders to not only promote these initiatives during Hispanic Awareness Month but also to integrate diversity and inclusion efforts into the organization's culture year-round. Encourage ongoing dialogue and action to create a workplace where all employees feel valued, respected, and included, regardless of their cultural background. Demonstrating a commitment to diversity and inclusion can lead to a more engaged and innovative workforce. Remember to use these hashtags strategically in your social media posts and content to reach a wider audience and join conversations related to Hispanic Awareness Month and leadership. #HispanicHeritageMonth #LatinxLeadership #DiversityandInclusion #LatinoLeaders #HispanicExcellence #LeadershipInclusion #LeadingWithCulture #InclusiveLeadership #LeadershipMatters #LeadWithDiversity #InclusiveWorkplace #InspireWithCulture #CulturalDiversity #LeadershipInAction
