☆ We provide leadership solutions to international school principals, boards, owners and investors ☆
📣 10 reasons why EVERY teacher in the UK needs to teach in an international school at some point in their career. 1️⃣ It will enhance you as an individual and add value to your global citizenship. 2️⃣ You'll experience people, culture and places that will be hard to beat. 3️⃣ Career development opportunities come thick and fast. 4️⃣ You'll grow your professional network. 5️⃣ You'll become a BETTER TEACHER by experiencing different curricula. 6️⃣ If you have children, you'll be allowing them to learn an additional language, just by being where they are. 7️⃣ If you're sensible, you'll save money and put that money to good effect. 8️⃣ You CAN work for some of the most successful schools in the world, and with some of the highest achieving students. 9️⃣ You'll get to visit amazing countries that were a 'holiday of a lifetime' - every school holiday. 🔟 You'll have stories, experiences and friends who'll be there for you for the rest of your life. ❌ Teaching internationally IS NOT a 'cop out'. ❌ It isn't 'easier' because the children can be more highly motivated. Great teachers create their own internal motivation to be more and achieve more. ❌ It won't ruin your career - it will enhance it. ❌ It ISN'T a risk to do it. It's a risk NOT TO DO IT. ❌ If you are overlooked by schools when you come back - wouldn't they want to tap into your experiences? Tomorrow I'll share all of the reasons and barriers I've heard from teachers who say they can't teach internationally. YOU MOST DEFINITELY CAN. Want to get your overseas adventure started? What is your approach to hiring new teachers? ✏️ Hiring new teachers for schools is a crucial decision because of its impact on the quality of education, the reputation of the institution, the safety of the children and their social and emotional development. The academic qualifications, experience, personality, and teaching philosophy of the new teachers are some of the factors to consider when looking for suitable candidates for our children. Steps to follow when hiring a new teacher: 📖 Have a clear idea of what kind of teacher you need and what you expect from them. You should consider the subject, grade level, curriculum, and standards of your school, as well as the skills, values, and goals that you want your teacher to have. 📢 Post the job advert on various platforms, such as your school website, local newspapers, education-specific job boards, and social media. Include details of a contact person, a deadline for applications, and a clear application process. 💻 Review their CVs carefully and select the most qualified and suitable candidates for interviews. Look for evidence of their education, certification, experience, achievements, and references. I'll encourage you to pay attention to their resume format, grammar, spelling, and style, as these can reflect their professionalism and attention to detail. 📖 Conduct interviews (written, oral and micro-teaching) to assess the candidates' personalities, communication skills, and teaching styles. 👆 Conduct a background check on all interviewed candidates to verify their information, feedback and criminal records. Remember to ask about the candidate's character, work ethic, achievements, and areas of improvement. 👍 Make an offer after choosing the best candidates and include the details of the salary, benefits, contract, and start date, and ask them to confirm their acceptance within a certain period. 📩 Send feedback to unsuccessful candidates to inform them that they were not selected, and thank them for their interest and time. If possible, identify areas they should improve on. Teachers, always do the needful before leaving any organisation no matter what the situation may be. Do you need an experienced and seasoned professional to work with you on your next recruitment exercises in your school, feel free to reach out to me. #teachers #recruitment #hr #educationalleadership #education #teaching #learning #education #children #studentengagement #humanresourcesmanagement #teachers #classroommanagement #classroom #leadership #bvlc #schools #boss #hire #community #recruitmentservices #britishcouncil #unesco
