Realizing that mental health issues can impact anyone of us - directly or indirectly- is a first step toward caring. A second step is taking action to help others. Supporting programs that provide hands on help to people and families struggling with the aftermath of something so traumatic as suicide is a great way to connect caring with action. #MentalHealthAwareness

📣 Grant opportunity for nonprofits! Does your organization have a passion for mental health and a creative idea to bring mental health actions and education to your community for Mental Health Action Day on May 16th? MTV is offering grants to qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations. This #MentalHealthAction Day, MTV is making grant funding available to empower nonprofit partners to produce innovative activations on the 4th annual Mental Health Action Day, a day dedicated to driving our mental health culture from awareness to action. What You Should Know: MTV is offering grants to qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations to activate on Mental Health Action Day: Thursday, May 16th, 2024.   MTV's goal is to support organizations with grants that can bring to life activations that reach young people directly, with a particular focus on those that reach communities lacking access to mental health resources. While no idea is too big or small, the majority of grants will be $2,500- $7,000 with a maximum of $10,000. Activations that engage their local community to learn and practice A.S.K. (Acknowledge, Support, Keep-In-Touch | asktohelp.com), the new ‘stop, drop and roll’ for emotional support developed in partnership with Active Minds, Inc., a leading youth-focused mental health non-profit, will be given special consideration as we aim to empower people to know how to respond when their friends or loved ones reach out to them for help. Thinking of talking to a workmate about their mental well-being? Time it right. When you know someone is going through a tough spell at work, you naturally want to help. But before you reach out, be sure both of you have the time and energy to talk. This can be easier said than done when faced with sizeable workloads and the pressure of tight deadlines, so patience is the key here.  If you're comfortable with it, wait for those moments when you can both be alone, like a lunch break or outside of work.  By consistently practising emotional support for one another at work, 'difficult' conversations can become much easier and happen more naturally, helping us all to open up and share how we're feeling.
