๐๐ Important news for early-stage entrepreneurs! Global venture capital investment fell to $344 billion in 2023, down significantly from $531.4 billion in 2022. Despite the decline, Americas accounted for more than half of all venture capital investment this year, totalling a significant $183.6 billion. The Asia-Pacific region followed closely behind with $92.4 billion in investment, while Europe saw $62.3 billion. This decline can be attributed to several challenges, including geopolitical tensions, macroeconomic factors, high interest rates, inflation, a difficult exit environment, and growing concerns about startup valuations. However, it is critical that we remain informed and do not become discouraged by these difficult times! ๐ค YNOS Venture Engine assists early-stage startups by providing comprehensive insights to understand the suitable investment options that are available for your startup, enabling them to make informed decisions and stay ahead of the curve. #BusinessIntelligence #VentureCapital #GlobalInvestment #EconomicTrends #ProfessionalInsights #entrepreneurship #datadrivendecisions

๐ข Itโs time for a new world order in VC Venture Capital has long been heralded as a cornerstone of technological and entrepreneurial progress. However, beneath the veneer of success stories and unicorn startups, there lies a critical need for introspection and reform within the VC industry itself. 1. A System at Crossroads: The venture capital model, celebrated for identifying and funding groundbreaking ideas, is increasingly under scrutiny for its narrow focus on short-term gains over long-term societal impacts. Itโs essential to question: Are we funding progress or perpetuating a cycle of short-sighted profitability? ๐๐ค 2. The Diversity Deficit: The startling inequity in funding allocation, particularly towards female founders and minorities, not only highlights a systemic bias but also poses a significant loss to innovation as a whole. How many transformative ideas are we sidelining due to inherent biases in our funding mechanisms? ๐๐ฅ 3. Profit vs. Purpose Dichotomy: The venture capital industryโs inclination towards profit-centric models often overlooks startups with a social or environmental mission. This dichotomy between profit and purpose raises the question: Is the industry in need of a paradigm shift towards more inclusive and impactful investing? ๐โค๏ธ 4. Urgent Need for Evolution: Though thereโs an emerging shift towards impact investing and efforts to diversify the VC landscape, the pace of change is notably slow. The industryโs evolution seems overdue for a disruption that not only broadens its investment horizon but also democratizes opportunities for all. โณ๐ฑ Itโs imperative for the venture capital model to undergo a significant transformation, maybe even a new Cultural Exi-System altogether. This entails not just a shift in where investments are directed, but also a fundamental reevaluation of what success means in the realm of innovation and entrepreneurship. What are your thoughts on how we can achieve this? Letโs discuss. ๐กโจ #VentureWorldOrder #VentureCapitalReform #InclusiveInnovation #FutureOfFunding #SocialImpactInvesting #EntrepreneurialEcosystem #WolfAndIron

๐ Exciting Encounter with a Visionary in Venture Capital ๐ I had the privilege of meeting Fariha Ansari Javed a dynamic force in the world of venture capital, and I couldn't be more inspired by the conversation that took place during the Conclave. It's not just about business; it's about the profound impact they're making on society. ๐ก Venture capitalists play a pivotal role in driving innovation and progress. Here's why I believe their work is a driving force for the betterment of society: 1๏ธโฃ Supporting Innovation: Venture capitalists identify, nurture, and invest in groundbreaking ideas and startups. They help these ideas become reality, pushing the boundaries of technology and innovation. 2๏ธโฃ Economic Growth: By funding startups, they stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and promote entrepreneurial spirit. These ventures often become major employers, boosting local economies. 3๏ธโฃ Social Responsibility: Many venture capitalists are dedicated to causes beyond profit. They support initiatives addressing critical global issues, from healthcare and clean energy to education and equality. 4๏ธโฃ Access to Opportunities: They provide opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs, often breaking down barriers to access capital and resources, thus promoting diversity and inclusivity. Meeting Fariha Ansari Javed reminded me that venture capital isn't just about investment; it's about shaping a brighter future for all of us. ๐๐ช I look forward to collaborating and learning more from the brilliant minds in the venture capital industry as we work together to build a better world. #Valuecent #VentureCapital #Innovation #SocialImpact #Collaboration #BrighterFuture #VentureIntelligence #StartUps #DivesityandInclusion #Networking #Leadership #Entrepreneurship #Sustainability #GoGreen #PrivateInvestors

I do not see this as a worrying trend, but I will think that the VC industry is rationalising due to a combination of pragmatism and the knowledge that the exuberance of the past decade cannot go on forever. I do think that the move towards an increased emphasis on startups is a positive one, as the region (and the world) are actually in the process of redefining their business models (towards a much more sustainable value chain and circularity). While the quantum might seem to be declining from this report, the deal flows have increased in the region, and it is a positive sign that the region will be the focal point of "rebuilding better" after the three years of painful pandemic doldrums. If I were to operate a fund now, I would focus on early-stage startups that have a strong motivation towards deploying sustainable technology towards transforming communities that is scalable organically. In an environment that is rightfully focused on creating impact, there are vast opportunities. However, given the multi-faceted and iterative nature of sustainable business models, greater scrutiny of scalability, revenue models, founder intent, and long-termism would be essential. #Venturecapital #impactinvestment #sustainableinvestment #seriesfunding #SoutheastAsia #startup #growth #impact #buysinessmodel #longtermism #greenertogether

VC is vital to continued innovation and economic growth Tech innovation is VCโs bread and butter, and the sector must avoid shutting up shop during the current harder market, or risk missing out on significant opportunities to build the next unicorns and drive societal change. VC is risk capital, so even during uncertain times, we should be out there taking risks and deploying capital. Of course, we should learn lessons from the last few years, but we must do what we do best and adapt by identifying start-ups that can address emerging and critical needs and disruptions in the market. Is the point of business still to make as much money as possible? Talking to the startups of today, not so much. There is now far more of a collaboration between commercialisation and social impact. Can a business deliver social change? And should it? There is a constant tension between the 'infinite game' of business, where the focus is to continue to grow and increase #revenue constantly, and the 'infinite game' of #contribution, where a business is in a unique position to change the world for the better by investing in people, regions and industries that support the growth of society. Too often, these are seen as opposites - but increasingly, startups are coming along and seeing a way to be commercially successful whilst making the world a better place. Profit can be purposeful. #socialimpact

Very Interesting read on the Future of VC. There are Five forces fueling the unstoppable entrepreneurship megatrend and the ambition to build/ invest in startups- - The pursuit of Wealth - The pursiot of Purpose & Passion - Lower barriers to build with broadening opportunities. - The โmafia effectโ and innovation tribes around the globe - Opportunities abound in the fourth industrial revolution The future of VC is led by the urge to innovate and create value in multiples, fuelled further by advancemnets in technology and an evolved ecosystem of capital availability & its professional management. In an environment of ongoing uncertainty, more investors will want to invest in the certainty of innovationโthe unstoppable wave that persists through all market conditionsโinstead of investing only in growth, leaner operations, or enhanced capital structures As more venture capitalists move to earlier stages and the power law potentially flattens as more startups become successful, the leading VC players will become โโfull stackโโ and increasingly global. #vclab #Ventureinstitute #ventureCapital #VC
