Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2024: A Story of Healing through Art This NAIDOC Week, we celebrate the amazing journey of Kylie and David Hill and their family. Years ago, they started a business that uses art to connect with communities across Australia having collaborated with communities and organisations in Queensland, NSW, and Victoria. For them, art is not just creative—it's a way to heal and share their culture. Kylie shares First Nations tribes used art to share important messages. They didn’t write letters and used symbols and drawings to tell stories. Whether it was about a birth, a hunt, or a special event, these drawings were their way of communicating. Today, Kylie, David and their family keep this tradition alive through their business, sharing their heritage with everyone. At Bunzl, we are proud to have Kylie’s family create the artwork for our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan. This partnership is about more than just art—it's about building strong relationships and working together as one. NAIDOC Week isn’t just one week of the year. It is important we celebrate the culture, stories, and connections that we honour every single day of First Nations peoples and communities. #NAIDOC2024 #ArtAndHealing #Reconciliation #Bunzl #FirstNations #CulturalStories #ReconcilationActionPlan

It's NAIDOC week, and this year's theme is Keep the Fire Burning: Blak, Loud, and Proud. This years theme focuses on celebrating the cultural resilience of First Nations people, their profound connection to the land and traditions, and their pride in their First Nation identity. "It embodies our purpose, calling us to celebrate and honour the strength and vitality of our cultures." As an organisation, we have been putting to task the recommendations from NAIDOC - here’s three things you can do: - Check your local council for events: https://lnkd.in/dexeVKVM - If you cannot attend an in-person event, here are other ways to participate: Follow and engage with First Nations creators online, attend online events, and watch movies and shows featuring First Nations stories. Learn the traditional names of the land you live on and its owners. - Follow, like and share some cool people who are posting interesting content, here are some of our favourite current and upcoming leaders: https://lnkd.in/gy8U6aks https://lnkd.in/gfmX8dD5 https://lnkd.in/g3_q2HB #NAIDOC24 #BLAK #keepthefireburning #impactinvesting #indigenousknowledges

First Nation Consultant | Community Engagement | Bridging Culture through Business | Project Manager
When your business participates in NAIDOC events, you can feel the incredible spiritual connection First Nation peoples' have with each other. The laughter and conversations you hear in the distance make you smile. Being around mob is like attending a big annual family gathering, where you bump into people you haven't seen for years. (even if it's only been a day or two) The music, dances, and celebrations are experiences that are hard to explain to non-First Nation people, but I think you know what I'm referring to. NAIDOC Week can sometimes prompt businesses to evaluate their engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities. This reflection often reveals a different perspective than what the media portrays and fosters a desire for more of the amazing feeling that comes from being around mob. Businesses start to question: Are we meeting our goals and successfully implementing our Reconciliation Plan? Are we enhancing our Indigenous supply chain? Are we making purposeful and meaningful impacts? Can we do better? If you want to enhance your business’s cultural knowledge, connect more effectively with Indigenous Communities, and expand your Indigenous supply chain, there's only one way to do this. Put your thoughts into action! 'Keep the Fire Burning, Blak, Loud and Proud' by continuing to strengthen relationships and create real opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' and businesses to thrive, succeed, and have more celebrations!! Happy NAIDOC everyone! #NAIDOC #FirstNation #Celebrations #EveryoneInvited

The Kleinfelder team took time to acknowledge NAIDOC week and the importance of celebrating the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The team participated in events to learn more about First Nations culture, investigated and presented ways to promote and foster increased Indigenous participation in our industry, and incorporated conscious supply changes to our business. All with the aim of learning how to be the best ally we can be. This NAIDOC week we at Kleinfelder continue to make conscious focused changes and challenge ourselves to learn and do more; for we believe even today’s smaller deliberate changes can become the instinctive strides forward of tomorrow. #NAIDOC2024

It's NAIDOC Week 2024! And proud Samuawgadhalgal, Torres Strait artist Deb Belyea is the winner of this year's NAIDOC Week poster competition – here is what Deb says of the winning work, Urapun Muy. “‘Urapun Muy’, from the Kalaw Kawaw Ya dialect of the Top Western Islands of the Torres Strait, means ‘One Fire’. The title of this work pays homage to Torres Strait Islanders and Aboriginal people everywhere, as we all have that one fire; our passion for our culture. In this work, I have depicted the hands of our ancestors that have carefully dropped a burning ember on to a fire. This ember burns hot with intensity, stoking the flames, as it combines with the new fire. The linear detail shows the energy and power as cultural knowledge is transferred from our ancestors to us today. Culture is the fire that gives us knowledge, wisdom and purpose. It is our responsibility to maintain, practice, and pass on our fire to our future generations. After all, Culture keeps us Blak, Loud and Proud.” At #AscottAustralia, we are committed to listening more, learning more, and forming more partnerships that will support First Nations communities in meaningful ways. We are striving for a future that honours our First Peoples. #NAIDOC2024 #NAIDOCWeek #BlakLoudProud
