A National Center for Education Statistics study found that one in five children in the US (15.3 million) did not have access to basic school supplies. Anyone who joins our Y in July and contributes school supplies will not pay the joiner fee, a savings of up to $100. Members and the public are also welcome to drop off school supplies at any of our branches, and we’ll get them to kids in need. All supplies go to districts near each branch. #YMCA #YMCACLE #SchoolSupplies https://lnkd.in/g9rSsCFp

School vouchers are not a Republican vs. Democrat fight. It’s a fight between the bipartisan, pro-public education coalition and the billionaire mega-donors who are funding the voucher scam to subsidize private school education for the wealthy few, while pillaging money from public schools that serve the vast majority of Texas kids. The school voucher scam will defund our already underfunded public schools and push them deeper into crisis management forcing them to cut more staff and programs from our public schools. Other states that have adopted voucher systems have shown that the vast majority of these tax dollars go to reduce private school tuition for students who already attend private schools. We cannot take funds away from our public schools and school teachers when they are already hurting and struggling to meet our children’s needs. I am the only candidate running for Texas House District 56 that is opposed to school vouchers and will stand up to fight against defunding our local public schools. As your representative, I will author and vote for legislation that supports our public schools, students and teachers. I will fight to fund our schools and provide our teachers with a permanent pay raise. I believe there are real, common sense solutions that can solve this issue and I will be a staunch advocate for our public schools. The purpose of this program is to facilitate the enrollment, attendance, and success in school of homeless children and youth and ensure homeless children and youth have equal access to the same free, appropriate, public education as provided to all other students. Services provided cannot replace the regular academic program and must be designed to expand or improve services that are part of the school's regular academic program. #funding #fundingopportunity #opportunity #opportunityalert #igniteyourimpact #grant #grants #grantwriter #grantwriters #grantconsultants #grantwriting #education

First, there is a commission that reviews the guidelines for child support every 4 years. The guidelines are based on the cost of raising children. Those costs include parents driving more to/from school or an extracurricular activity, the cost of those activities, larger homes that need more heat, more milk or food in the fridge, school fees, cough syrup when a kid gets sick, co-pays for the doctor, clothes, haircuts, etc. Every parent incurs those additional costs. Amid the backdrop of a global pandemic, Congress allocated a whopping $190 billion to school districts to handle unexpected costs, including the transition to online learning. The majority of these funds were used to enhance educational services in districts, particularly those with a high population of Black students. However, these funds are set to expire this fall, leaving many school officials in a scramble. Meanwhile, concerns have been raised about the misuse of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER), with audits revealing a potential for wastefulness and fraud. The pivot has centered on the belief that some schools spent the funds on left-wing political ideologies rather than addressing pre-existing educational gaps. Regardless of the controversy, experts agree that the funds have shed light on chronic issues within our education system. The necessity of these funds to provide necessary services and create safe school environments cannot be understated. Tomorrow is 4/24/24, and Freedom 4/24 aims to raise $4,240 to prevent child exploitation. Research shows that traffickers are grooming elementary-aged students, but education can save lives. Freedom 4/24's Human Trafficking Prevention Curriculum for grades 5-12 is piloting in schools, but they need funding to continue offering it to schools across Virginia and the US at no cost. Their goal is to remove all barriers to education, ensuring every child receives life-saving education. It costs approximately $24 to educate one student. Join us in supporting this cause by donating to help them reach their goal. Every dollar counts, and your contribution can make a difference in the life of a child. #endhumantrafficking Donate now: https://lnkd.in/e3fMq_Yu

🎓📚 Quality education for ALL #students is a constitutional responsibility of the US states. However, Florida schools currently need more teachers 👩🏫👨🏫 and bus drivers 🚌 and are significantly underfunded 💸. This year, #Florida ranked last in the nation for average teacher pay 🥇⬇️. These issues demonstrate that the state needs to invest more in public K-12 schools. Underfunded teachers can't provide marginalized students with the tools for quality #education. This fact impacts young students in marginalized communities who lack access to resources available to their more economically privileged counterparts. Voices of Florida is organizing its yearly Backpack Drive 🎒 to provide essential learning materials to students in underserved communities. This drive aims to ensure that students from disadvantaged backgrounds have access to educational resources and feel included in the classroom. Voices of Florida believes that students perform better when they start the school year with the confidence that comes from having new and engaging school supplies ✏️📖. 🡆 DONATE HERE: https://lnkd.in/erjD-ryA

No pictures this end. Just a very angry community guy my end. The Ministry of Education has just shown how ignorant of safety measures and how lacking in empathy for rural families they hold. They are either sociopaths or they have no oversight and leadership what so ever. None of their staff should hold the position that they do, including Hon Erica Stanford MP. How an MP can allow what has just been announced to the Bayview and Clive bus routes (8 bus routes cancelled with no room at the designated schools to take the students), and the targeting of many rural school bus routes in HB leaving pupils in danger and parents distraught. Examples: MKK school SH50 bus route that has been running for 50+ years is going to be rerouted to collect our children from the cnr of Salisbury rd and SH50. A 100km zone highway, double yellow lines and no where safe to collect or drop off our children and NO WHERE for the bus to make a u-turn safely!… MOE and the Bus services pull your heads out of the sand, stop passing the buck when concerned parents TRY to communicate with you! Te Pohue school reduced from 63 km to 24 km with a turning and pick up point on a blind corner of SH5 and Ohurakura road where logging trucks frequent. No Where to turn, and no visibility. Nicola Willis MP you answered me at the Hastings Chamber of Comerse meeting that you did not know anything about the HB school cancellation. It now appears now that was incorrect or you do not keep oversight on your ministries, that are doing this to save your ministry money. Erica Stanford MP you should know of this and followed it you have had my emails and if your staff were checking social media you would have much more info. Katie Nimon I have a meeting with you on the 22nd, I hope you have some answers.

A growing issue that is starting to gather headlines in education is the growth of home education, especially since the pandemic. The Department for Education has just released a consultation looking for views on their proposed changes to the non-statutory elective home education guidance for local authorities and parents. With more and more people being affected by this it is well worth sharing so people can put forward their views. https://lnkd.in/gh3jicXC #homeeducation
