Bessemer Venture Partners recently released their State of the Cloud report, focused on the rise of the AI Cloud.  AI capabilities are driving value creation across platforms, verticals, and the path for which new value is created. Here are my top 3*  takeaways: 1️⃣ Similar to what we observed in the Cloud Platform layer, the AI model layer will become commoditized over time. Additionally, the analysis wins for the most creative comparison of potato chips to LLMs. 🤣 2️⃣ The rise of SLMs - I’m bullish on this one having seen results of accuracy and lower gpu overhead these can provide for smaller / single stream solutions 3️⃣ Vertical AI is driving a new class of business models and applications, providing a market growth opportunity to develop target solutions for domain specific challenges. *3 was tough to arrive at, the report provides a well rounded point of view across their 5 trends.  h/t to Kiran Rao for bumping this to the top of my feed. #ai #cloud

What do I believe are the biggest trends coming up in technology? I believe these three are the biggest coming up in the following 1-2 years: 1. AI. The biggest wave right now. Just by making a "wrapper startup" you end up getting some revenue. My two cents here is that AI is going to become more specialized on different niches instead of the "broad" AI that we have today. In generative AI, the results are going to be more realistic, reliable and faster. 2. Integrations. The software era is becoming very cluttered by dedicated software tools for everything, but they are very specialized and usually don't know how to talk to each other. There are big opportunities in creating "glue" layers between software tools in the same space. We're seeing this with Vuuh and we're capitalizing on it. 3. GPU enabled Cloud. Right now, there are some GPU enabled tools, but with the rise in AI, the demand for this kind of services will just increase, as more and more businesses will want to train or call their own models from their own cloud accounts. We already encountered this issue at Vuuh, and we discovered that there are not that many serverless solutions out there that offer GPU usage for using various models fast and price efficient.

Happy New Year! Here's to a great 2024! As we look forward to the year ahead, I am excited to continue learning and staying curious. One topic that I am particularly interested in exploring is the impact of AI and Gen AI capabilities on pathways towards opportunity and growth. According to McKinsey, Gen AI has the potential to add $2.5-4.5 trillion annually across industries. However, it's important to consider the financial sustainability risks that could threaten the ability to scale AI innovation. AI heavily relies on cloud storage and computing powers, and with Gartner predicting that global cloud market costs will increase more than 20% this year, leaders have a responsibility to ensure experimentation to scale includes vision and thought on financial sustainability. That's why I'm excited to announce that I will be joining HFS Research on Feb 1st for a roundtable on Generative AI impact on Cloud. ⚾ We are in the first inning of gen AI enterprise adoption 🧢 Good insights from Menlo Ventures: while investment in generative AI surged in 2023, with enterprises spending approximately $2.5 billion, it only represented a sliver of overall AI expenditure and less than 1% of overall cloud spending. https://lnkd.in/gTfwNpaQ Unsurprisingly, 90% of enterprise leaders are “observers”, per a recent BCG X survey (Sylvain Duranton,) either waiting for gen AI to move beyond the hype or experimenting in small ways. https://lnkd.in/g-S5SPJy.
