Frans Moll, member of Xeltis Medical Advisory Board delivered a presentation yesterday morning at the CX Symposium. Prof Moll talked about how the transformative conduits of supramolecular polymer technology have the possibility of significantly reducing infections in multiple clinical applications. This was a great conclusion to Xeltis' time at #CX2024. If you didn't manage to meet us, please get in touch to find out more about our transformative vascular implants. #MAB #cardiovascular #aXess

Redefining Medical Innovation: EPO's Bold Move on 'Substance or Composition' 🌟 The EPO's recent decision, T 1252/20, marks a pivotal shift in the definition of 'substance or composition' for medical use claims. Moving away from the traditional emphasis on chemical activity, this ruling embraces a broader interpretation, including materials that achieve therapeutic effects through physical properties. This groundbreaking change paves the way for innovative medical solutions, such as hydrogels for blocking biological vessels, to be recognized under patent law. It signifies a leap forward in supporting diverse medical technologies, from diagnostics to surgery, fostering further innovation in healthcare. Radiopaque Implants for Improved Patient Care--> Nanoparticles Enhance Monitoring Without Compromising Safety This recent study from Shapiro's team highlights the importance of monitoring implanted devices for improved patient outcomes. They discuss the limitations of current polymeric materials and proposes the use of radiopaque nanoparticles for better monitoring via CT scans. Importantly, their work addresses potential safety concerns by demonstrating that these nanoparticles do not undergo 'burst release' from the devices or trigger inflammation. OsStic® Bio-adhesive technology is mentioned in the May edition of BONEZONE Magazine | OMTEC Expo. Full article - 'What's new in Fracture Repair' is available via the link below!
What’s New in Fracture Repair | Bonezone Patrick McGuire, May 30, 2024. Biomimetic Innovations Ltd has developed OsStic® Synthetic Injectable Bone Void Filler, a structurally and mechanically enhanced bio-adhesive for reduction, provisional fixation or void-filling of peri-articular fractures and defects. The filler enhances structural stability where standard fixation alone cannot provide sufficient support for functional mobilization. “This indication does not currently exist for any other biomaterial on the market today,” said Gerard Insley, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer at PBC BioMed. “That’s why it received Breakthrough Device Designation from FDA in January.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/e6scctBZ

#Pterygium is a benign fibrovascular growth that extends from the conjunctiva to the corneal surface that can cause eye irritation, redness and impair vision. It most often affects people exposed to high levels of ultraviolet light or certain other environmental factors during outdoor work or leisure activities. While there are no FDA-approved drugs for pterygium, Cloudbreak is developing the first potential therapy for this condition, which is now in Phase 3 clinical trials. With over 65 million people worldwide with cataracts, the demand for advanced surgical and non-surgical solutions for cataract patients is growing. One of these advancements in development is the novel OmniVu™ lens system designed to address some of the unmet needs of patients with cataracts. The OmniVu lens system features a fluid-filled, modular shape-changing base and a fixed-power front optic that allows physicians to select the appropriate lens power to meet the patient’s target refraction. This dual system is intended to mimic the eye's natural ability. We invite you to learn more about our solution in development, the OmniVu IOL, here: https://atiavision.com/ Disclaimer: Atia Vision’s OmniVu™ Modular Shape-Changing Intraocular Lens (IOL) is an investigational device and it is not approved for sale or use in the United States. The information provided here serves as an overview of the technology's designed features. #Innovation #OmniVuIOL #ClearVision #CataractSurgery #IOLS Atia Vision Shifamed Mariam Maghribi George Waring IV

We are happy to announce the publication of our newest article on contrast-free #LAAo . #LAA occlusion has emerged as a means of reducing stroke risk in #atrialfibrillation #afib by mechanically occluding the left atrial appendage in the last years. In this context, periprocedural imaging protocols may vary widely including the use of #CT and/or #echo and/or #flouroscopy. In our paper, we present a three center experience from Bonn, Mainz 🇩🇪 and Bordeaux 🇨🇵 using a #contrastfree approach guided by echo only #echofirst . Hereby, feasibility, safety and efficacy of this technique with the #lambre Lifetech Scientific Corporation device was demonstrated.💪 #ELAAC Boston Scientific Abbott Univ.-Prof.Dr. Ralph Stephan von Bardeleben Tobias Ruf Jean-Benoît Thambo, MD, PhD Xavier Iriart Philippe GAROT Adel Aminian Ole De Backer Jens Erik Nielsen-Kudsk Prof. Dr. Ingo Eitel Ulf Landmesser Prof. Dr. Christoph Hammerstingl Herzzentrum Bonn Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn Felix Meincke Fabian Nietlispach Ignacio Cruz-Gonzalez, MD, PhD Steffen Gloekler Horst Sievert https://lnkd.in/eaVwikHx
