When an emergency strikes, being prepared, prioritizing safety and working together quickly matters. Recently we collaborated with White Bear Lake’s Fire Department in Minnesota to train teams on how to respond to a crisis in our communities. More than a dozen crews worked in simulated, real-life scenarios—from natural gas leaks to downed power lines. Working alongside our emergency responders is key to ensuring public safety in dangerous situations.

Fire Officer's Leadership Thought of the Day: "Interoperabilty" - Take a "systems thinking" approach to operations... The FD does not typically control the water utilities, but is a primary, end user. We need clear communication with our allied agencies, especially during transitions and upgrades to those systems. The first due engine company may know which hydrant is live, but does the 2nd due? "Eeenie-Meenie-Miney-Moe" is not a solid tactical strategy. A communication system even as basic/crude as a trash bag may be operationally significant. #attentiontodetail

What is the emergency response plan for a structural collapse? Immediately contact Public Safety. Move to a safe location and protect yourself and others from secondary collapses. Do not attempt to enter the structure to perform a rescue. If you know notify emergency responders.
