If we want to beat this heat in the future, we need more trees! Urban forest cover that exceeds 40% per city block has the most cooling potential, but the benefits go even further. As humidity approaches 100% with an air temperature of 95 degrees Fahrenheit, sweat no longer cools us down, and people cannot survive without cooling technology. However, the evaporation of water from trees during photosynthesis keeps humidity from reaching 100%, enabling our bodies to expel more heat than we create. This is just one example of how forests are essential to human health. https://lnkd.in/g7cxk4BT
