As a mentor and educator, Dr. Noor often serves as faculty at various conferences and programs, and Boston Scientific’s Fellows 101 Program was the first of many in May!  During a dinner with vascular surgery fellows, faculty discussed life in the interventional world and how it differs for a surgeon, cardiologist, or interventional radiologist. Faculty shared their personal trials and tribulations with the attendees. During a busy day of various sessions, faculty presented different disease states and discussed different cases complications, and hands-on experience with devices, providing fellows with a comprehensive look at the world of vascular disease. #vascularsurgery #BEVSA #vascularsurgeonbuffalo #buffalo

POSITiVE II Has Started Excited to see that the the ‘POStoperative INTELLiVENT–adaptive support VEntilation in cardiac surgery patients’ (POSITiVE II) study has included its first patient. The study is now up and running in Vienna, Austria; more centers to follow. POSITiVE II is an international, multicenter, two–group randomized clinical superiority trial in 328 cardiac surgery patients. Patients either receive automated ventilation by means of INTELLiVENT–ASV, or ventilation that is not automated by means of a conventional ventilation mode. The interim analysis of the PERSEVERE trial suggests that the use of AMDS lowers 30-day MAEs in patients presenting with malperfusion and Acute DeBakey Type I (ADTI) dissection while adding minimal time and complexity to the procedure, as presented by Dr. Fernando Fleischman, Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at Keck Hospital of the University of Southern California at EACTS 2023. The PERSEVERE study is the first of its kind, as there are limited prospective studies evaluating devices to treat ADTI dissection.
