How sustainable is your city? With just 2,000 days left to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, ensuring transformative change for cities across the world on their path towards a sustainable future is vital now more than ever. The latest Arcadis Sustainable Cities Index 2024 underscores the critical need for sustainable urban development to ensure our cities are liveable, resilient, and thriving for generations to come. From Germany's commitments to significantly increase renewable energy from sources like wind and solar power by 2050, to Paris' urban forests project, although it shows many cities making good progress on their sustainability commitments, it's important for other cities to follow suit and not get left behind. Where does your city stand in the list? Find out more here: https://loom.ly/W2nhx7Y #SustainableCities #SustainableDevelopmentGoals #SDGs
A thought-provoking post! The urgency of the UN Sustainable Development Goals is palpable, but is progress being made fast enough? The Arcadis Sustainable Cities Index 2024 offers a snapshot, yet many cities lag behind. Are the ambitious goals of cities like Germany and Paris scalable globally? Can smaller or developing cities feasibly adopt such strategies? Furthermore, how do socioeconomic factors influence a city's ability to implement sustainable practices? It's crucial to consider the diverse challenges and potential solutions unique to each urban environment. #UrbanSustainability #SDGs2030 #GreenCityPlanning

It is interesting that Copenhagen ended up on the third of this list, considering Denmark has one of the highest per capita ecological footprint. How is that possible?
Living in Amsterdam, you'll often get the question: What makes it so great and sustainable? This report provides great data points for answering how we live, and what's needed next for resilient urban futures.
My city, Quito, is not included in the study. Was it not considered for the study, or did it not reach the top 100?
Thanks for sharing.

2wIt is very Nice to see exemples like these! Its inspirational. But it would be very Nice too if we start to consider these countries roles in imperialism, colonialism and their use of resourses abroad, in the so called "global south". My point is: sustainability should be something atached to social justice and political matters, mainly when we talk about the necessity to demize poverty and preserve nature (in the world)! See, multinacional enterprises from these countries (not only them, but others from "global north") come here in Brazil -for exemple- and explote our natural resources, exporting wealth and leaving us only whith the damages. being like this e easy to be considered sustanable, when you whipe the dirty to others.
