Over half the population of Sudan (25.6M people) are likely to face crisis or worse conditions of food insecurity. "It is evident the most vulnerable children and their families are bearing the brunt of the conflict." The international community and parties to the conflict must take immediate action to prevent a catastrophic malnutrition emergency. https://lnkd.in/dq2ZTBnj World Vision Sudan EU in Emergencies

The humanitarian crisis in Yemen has left millions, including Malia Qassim Mahmoud's family, struggling with severe malnutrition. Despite the adversity, there are inspiring stories of resilience to be discovered. Action Against Hunger has been working in Yemen since 2012 and supported 300,000 people last year, but there is still much more work to be done. #YemenCrisis #HumanitarianAid #Malnutrition #Resilience #ActionAgainstHunger #SupportYemen #HelpYemen #YemenRelief #YemenWar #YemenChildren #YemenFamine #YemenEmergency #YemenAppeal #YemenNeedsHelp #YemenSolidarity #YemenHumanitarianCrisis

It’s been a year since conflict broke out in Sudan, and many are calling this brutal time the “Forgotten War.” But we will not forget — not when so many innocent people are in dire need of our support. UNICEF reports that there have been spikes in malnutrition-related child deaths, particularly among displaced children. In January 2024, Doctors Without Borders found malnutrition and mortality above emergency levels. And, according to the UN, this conflict has left 18 million people “acutely food insecure” in Sudan and millions more in neighboring South Sudan and Chad. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/edTmgQ8V The annual “lean season” is now upon these areas, when malnutrition worsens. Please remember Sudan in your prayers, and support our partners to continue to offer a safe haven and nourishment during war. 📅Sounding the alarm on Sudan's hunger crisis: a joint event from Tufts University, The Clingendael Institute and Humanitarian Policy Group Online event Wednesday 6 March 15.00 – 16.30 CAT l 13.00 – 14.30 GMT l 08.00 – 09.30 EST. With Alex de Waal, Hassan-Alattar Satti, Youssif Tayeb, Anette Hoffmann & Sorcha O'Callaghan Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/eT_wuM5K Ten months after war erupted across Sudan, experts suggest that Sudan now has the worst hunger levels ever recorded. As Sudan heads into its annual ‘lean season’ it is estimated that seven million people are facing catastrophic levels of hunger. Mass starvation and high numbers of deaths are predicted by June, when child malnutrition is highest and disease is likely to compound the high levels of hunger. The window to reduce the impact of what is rapidly becoming the world’s largest hunger crisis in decades is closing. Business as usual is not an option. #SudanCrisis #HumanitarianCrisis #Famine

“They say that, right now, Gaza has the highest proportion of people living with food deprivation anywhere in the world. Before 7 October, when the war started, acute malnutrition was largely nonexistent in Gaza. Since then, among children in northern Gaza it has increased to 15% – that’s one in six children under the age of two – while it is 5% in Rafah in southern Gaza. Unicef has highlighted that 90% of children under five eat fewer than two food groups a day, which is defined as “severe food poverty”, while roughly 90% are affected by an infectious disease, including 70% with diarrhoea. A lack of nutrition and high rates of infectious disease cause a deadly cycle in children: hungry children are more likely to fall sick and have weak immune systems given their fragility, while diarrhoea causes weight and water loss in already thin children.” https://lnkd.in/dpG65cca

#Addressing the Plight of Vulnerable Populations Amid Sudan's Crisis In these challenging times #Sudan's vulnerable populations, especially children, face numerous severe and real-life challenges daily due to displacement from one region to another. **Environmental Challenges:** - Lack of access to clean water for drinking and bathing - Exposure to harsh environmental conditions such as extreme cold, heat, and rain - Sleeping on the ground, exposing them to insect bites and other dangers **Health Challenges:** - Inadequate or non-existent healthcare facilities unable to provide proper medical care - Destruction of vaccination centers, leaving children without essential immunizations against diseases like polio and measles - Insufficient food supply, leading to malnutrition and potential fatalities **Future Challenges:** - Lack of educational facilities, hindering children's access to education and increasing future illiteracy rates We must come together to stop the war and ensure a better future for our children, who are the very essence of our lives. Let us join hands and work towards creating a safer and more secure environment where every child can thrive. Together, we can make a difference. Let's unite for peace and a brighter future for Sudan. #SudanCrisis #SupportChildren #EndWar #HumanitarianAid #FutureOfSudan #EducationForAll #HealthForAll #DigitalLiteracy #TechNile

300-days of war in #Sudan: Widespread malnutrition, massive displacement, and a shattered health system pose a greater threat to the lives of Sudanese, including children, on top of the armed conflict itself. Alarming levels of admissions for severe acute malnutrition, with conditions in inaccessible areas expected to even be worse. Around 3.5 million children are projected to suffer from acute malnutrition this year, with over 700,000 that might require specialized treatment. The number of internally displaced children has reached 3 million, and unsanitary conditions in overcrowded displacement sites increase the risk of disease. The healthcare system is severely compromised, with unpaid health workers and non-functional facilities. A combined short-term and long-term actions are required: Ending the ongoing conflict, Urgent international support (For negotiating sustainable peace and for restoring services and re-construction), Humanitarian access. #SudanCrisis #unicef https://lnkd.in/dPjvqHGY
