Today is World Environment Day!
Initiated by the United Nations Environment Programme in 1972, this day has been celebrated annually on June 5th. As we see numerous posts flooding social media today, it's crucial to reflect on our environmental impact.
A stark reality: We've lost forests covering an area twice the size of the United States, with half of this destruction occurring in the last century. Air quality is deteriorating, soil erosion is escalating, and climate change poses an ever-growing threat. Without action, the next decade could see even more severe consequences.
This year's theme focuses on Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience, emphasizing the revival of water sources, forest growth, and soil quality improvement.
On World Environment Day, Let's motivate those around us with messages of hope, proactive steps, and by planting a tree.
Save water, save life.
