Bridging Language Barriers | Interpreter | Translator | Multilingual | Bilingual | Linguist | Author published in 3 languages📚 | English Translator | Spanish Translator | French Translator | Language Acrobat
"The EPG remains hopeful that with determination, goodwill and a recognition that the interests of the people of Haiti must be the overriding concern of all stakeholders, a solution can be found to restore Haiti on a path of constitutionalism and democracy." Hmmmm I'm thinking out aloud here... I wonder whether the interpreters in the room could have played a role in softening the aggression? This may not be a popular opinion but as a student of foreign languages, communications and diplomacy, I see my role as Interpreter as one of bridging not just language barriers but certainly the cross-cultural hurdles. When voices escalate in a room where different languages are caught in crossfire, the Interpreter can also serve as a mediator by his/her choice of words to convey the ideas expressed. Is this an abuse of power by the Interpreter? I believe it's a sense of duty, a commitment to achieve the stated outcomes. Just saying... #interpretingyourneeds #interpreterlife #interpreter #interpretation #interpretationservices #mediation #diplomacy #goodoffices #goodneighbours #haiti #CARICOM

Approaches to Settlement in the Middle East and Africa Shall arbitrators promote settlements ex officio or may they only do so if the parties so request? At yesterday's DIS Practice Group Settlement event, these issues were discussed in depth in a great debate with Dr. Ismail Selim (Director, CRCICA, Cairo) and Victor Mugabe (Secretary General, KIAC, Kigali). While the enhancement of settlements in arbitration appears to conform to a global trend, and both at The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) and KIAC Rwanda many cases are settled, there is reluctance as to whether this should be an obligation imposed on the arbitrators, independent from the parties’ request. Thanks to the panelists, and the moderators Axel Reeg, Kilian Bälz, and Prof. Dr. Hartmut Hamann, for the lively discussion – that certainly has produced food for though when revising Article 26 of the DIS-Rules. #DISPraxislabor #DISRulesClinic #Arbitration #Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit #ArbitrationRules #DISArbitrationRules #Schiedsgerichtsordnung #DISSchiedsgerichtsordnung #DIS #DeutscheInstitutionfürSchiedsgerichtsbarkeit #GermanArbitrationInsitute #DISPracticeGroupSettlement #Settlement

#ContractLaw | A consensus ad idem,(*) with multidisciplinary thinking, between a Greek economist and an Italian lawyer. "Consensus ad idem" is a Latin term familiar to students of contract law. It means “agreement to the same thing” or “meeting of the minds”. In contract law, it refers to parties reaching a common view, triggering or thus entering into a mutually binding agreement.
