Who is the third world really? The last few years have really bought home to a lot of people how disconnected we are as a society from what makes us human or civilized. It's always been very easy to look at something like, say our buildings, our roads, our technology, and decide that something is civilized when defined by those that have, versus those that don't. This journey to redefine it, is something even I've been on. When you take this trip, what most realize is these things aren't what makes us civilized. It's how we keep rooted to each other, the planet and the places we live. the Industrial Revolution caused us to take on new technology for the purposes of defining us, not serving humanity. We created it at a time of Incredible division and disdain for humanity and let technology and advancements shape who we are in the intervening hundreds of years. The terms 'first' and 'third' are obviously colonialist capitalist in nature. These days, first world countries have technological advancement as a core of their being. Allowing the segregation of Separation of us from other humans by race and class which itself necessitates a continued cycle of othering of immigrants, and other nations. Social engineering so successful that the anticapitaliste, Communist and Socialist worker movement themselves, are as racist, if not more racist than the most racist British National Party member. Since the impact on the victim is the same. So who's REALLY the third world in this?
