Hear directly from WCL Teaching Artist & Board Member Alex Shaw about the impact of our music education programs for Philly youth: "It is profound to witness how these programs activate audiences’ collective brilliance and joy, whether its jumping into freestyle dance sessions, improvising on percussion instruments, singing in multiple languages, or asking reflective and poignant questions about new connections they are making in the moment." Our Music Futures campaign ends tomorrow, and thanks to you, we've already passed our $60,000 goal! But there's still time to make an impact – all contributions made through midnight on Friday, May 31st will directly fund music education opportunities for Philly students. https://lnkd.in/dacFWMn7 Just this Spring, we served over 2,800 participants from 21 unique partner organizations through our Bridge Sessions at the venue and in-school residencies and workshops. With your support, we can continue and expand these programs to reach even more young Philadelphians. Every dollar counts. THANK YOU!

We’ve got a lot of exciting things planned as we head into our 20th Anniversary this October! First up, we partnered with fellow Philly independents Wissahickon Brewing Company to celebrate this major milestone with a special beer release. The WCL 20th Anniversary Ale is on tap now exclusively at the venue, available at all 3 bars – The Lounge, Music Hall, and Mezzanine. Come on out to a show and grab a pint of this crushable hazy pale ale!

Residency Spotlight ⭐ We're proud to partner with Freire Schools to bring the magic of music education to over 1,100 Philly youth. WCL teaching artists are currently in residence at three Freire schools, providing workshops to *every* student enrolled until December 2024, focused on music production, songwriting, business, and history. CEO & Network Founder Kelly Davenport said, "The way it has reinvigorated our students excites us to partner further with WCL to tap into our kids' keen musical interests and develop the creative and entrepreneurial skills that will help them in their futures." Kids Rock Philly 2024 coming up this Sunday! Please join us and please donate to support our music education and community programs,
Five years ago, I had an idea to start a benefit rock concert by local kids - for local kids without access to music education. And so working with the World Cafe Live venue here in Philly and some incredible people like Hal Real, and Jim Love from School of Rock, the Kids Rock Philly event was born. You might already have seen the results of some of our efforts. Last year, the hard work of World Cafe Live Education Programs got the attention of John Legend and HBO/Max, resulting in this incredibly moving story. Watch the documentary trailer here: https://lnkd.in/ex67Eddp And now its our 5th anniversary. If you or your company could help us to continue this work, we would be most grateful.
