Japanese strawberry varieties are incredibly delicious. There are more opportunities for cultivating specific varieties in Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) plant factories and greenhouses. These Japanese strawberry varieties are grown in Japan's local environment and require cold stress during night cycles to achieve high sweetness. With a controlled environment, they can be grown indoors without the use of any harmful chemicals.

I had a great time representing ReGen Ventures earlier this week at Autonomous Nation in Fargo, North Dakota, organized by Microsoft and the Grand Farm. The event brought together policymakers and innovators to align on how the Great Plains can serve as the most autonomous-friendly region in the US. Using cutting-edge science and technology to solve systemic issues within agriculture, from labor shortages and operational inefficiencies to ecosystem degradation, requires a robust rollout of infrastructure, hardware, and digital tools in parallel with progressive policies incentivizing adoption. Reorienting agriculture - one of the most critical industries underpinning our global economy - is only possible if we can move innovation from the lab to the field in the farming epicenters of the world, which in many ways is North Dakota. Not only is ~89% of the state's 44.1m acres occupied by farmland, but it also ranks within the top 5 largest producers in the US for 24 of the most essential food commodities that feed the planet. With this in mind, it is encouraging to see Aigen, one of ReGen's portfolio companies, putting down roots in Fargo to rapidly transform our food system with its chemical-free, solar-powered robotics platform.
