🏢✨ Explore this unique adaptive reuse project in San Rafael that's caught my eye! What was once an office space is now attempting a transformation into a condominium, without fully shedding its corporate skin. The developer seems to have taken a rather lax approach, leaving behind a design that still breathes the office environment. While some may find this concept intriguing, I can't help but feel that the soul of a warm, inviting home has been lost in this conversion. That said, it could be a conversation starter for those who fancy hosting office-themed house parties! 🎉 What are your thoughts on this unusual approach to design and architecture? Let's discuss in the comments below. https://lnkd.in/gizt2hYv

Gensler’s Luke Askwith has a question: instead of planning only 60 years in advance, what would it look like if we designed an office building for 600 years? Join Luke as he explores this idea by leveraging research and thought leadership to design buildings far more adaptable than those of the past. https://bit.ly/3wzW81x

While the pandemic is no longer an active threat, issues like the movement of large groups of people within office environments can be streamlined to optimise time. The design for larger offices must address mobility by employing the concept of interlocked buildings. The complex can be split into multiple smaller blocks that would utilise lifts from a central core to provide access to various floors. In addition, drop-off points, pedestrian walkways, and parking must be efficiently laid out at a master plan level to prevent overcrowding and allow for smooth walkability. #architecture #mobility #indianarchitects #design #workspace #office

Is designing for #adaptability the key to #resiliency? Office-to-"X" conversions are all the rage now, but only a fraction of existing buildings have proven to be viable candidates. What if we address building transformation potential from initial project kickoff?
