Presented my poster at the Ocean Science Meeting in New Orleans as a part of the 2024 ASLO Multicultural Program cohort. My poster focused on my work during my time as a REU intern at Oregon State University Hatfield Marine Science Center. My project was the development of a laser camera system that would be used to study ice ocean boundaries, particularly measuring the roughness of ice and it influences the drag the field of flow imposes on the surface of ice.

"Experiential learning reaps unique benefits that the traditional education system does not access." Beautifully said, Ila! I have been, and always will be, an advocate for outdoor, hands-on, experiential learning opportunities. The Island School has been a particularly special institution for me, and this article is a testament to the power it has in inspiring students to be leaders of today and tomorrow. Give a read into some of Ila's Spring 2023 experience 😊
Check out Ila Dohrmann’s, a Spring ‘23 graduate, article of her time at The Island School and experiential learning! We are so happy to have such a profound impact on our students.

The waters encompassing mangrove forests are a hub of activity, acting as a safe haven and aqua-nursery for many marine creatures in their infancy. The colossal, curious, and critically endangered goliath grouper fish are one of these, first found dwelling in mangrove shallows for up to six years, before graduating their early years education to explore waters further afield https://lnkd.in/enUSpmba
