Chapter 6 Meet Paul one of our long serving staff members. Paul has been with TecFlo for nearly 24 years, one thing the business prides itself on is retaining staff and Paul is a testament to this. Paul started his TecFlo journey on the beer meter section back in 2000, everything from assembly to testing. This was followed by cross skilling into other areas of the business starting with EcoFlos, onto Kegs, and a stint on Regs. When the introduction of Taps came to us in 2015 Paul took on the role of head of section. Here he completes quality assessments on all parts, assembly of each tap, and rigorous pressure testing. Lets find out a little more about Paul. So what has TecFlo done to deserve 24 years of your time? Apart from a fantastic work life balance the people are great, which makes coming to work a lot easier. I have been lucky to have worked in all areas, and this variety makes the job appealing. Tell us something interesting about yourself that not many people know? I used to play rugby, not anymore but yes when I was younger, I played Rugby. I also like to cycle, and I do a lot of walking. Who would you like to have a drink with Dead or Alive? Paul O’Grady – I just think he would be really interesting and I'm sure he would have some stories about his road to stardom. I also think he would be hilarious. Just a normal down to earth man. So as retirement looms just 2 short years away what are your plans for the future? Be a man of leisure, no I'm only joking. I’ll probably travel the UK to see places I’ve not been to yet. But I am looking forward to retirement. #brewery #drinksindustry #manufacturing #engineering #gettoknowme

Will this be the beginning of change in the design of Accessible Pedestrian Systems (APS) at signalized intersections in Canada? Should it be? Please let us know what you think! CNIB Polara Synapse ITS #PedestrianSafety #TrafficEngineering #SmartCities
TransLink is Canada’s first transit system to feature braille signage at all bus stops https://lnkd.in/gSvkPV5G “Our goal is to ensure people get to where they need to go, when they need to go –– and braille is essential for many people who are blind or have low vision," says Shoko Kitano, Executive Director, British Columbia/Yukon, CNIB. “As we continue to champion safe and accessible journeys for all, TransLink’s Access Transit Users’ Advisory Committee (UAC), Metro Vancouver’s municipalities and Access for Sight Impaired Consumers (ASIC), an independent, consumer-driven advocacy coalition, have been instrumental in making transportation more accessible for our community.”

Get to Know the Board Tuesday… Sheryl Santi, SANTI EXPRESS, Inc Agent for Wheaton World Van Lines 1. How did you get your start in the moving and storage industry? Where was your first job, and what did you do? I actually trained as a nurse and ended up falling in love with a mover from Neptune Moving. This was in the mid-70s. We moved to Rockland County and bought a moving truck. I learned how to give estimates. We eventually became a certified woman-owned business. We had no advertising budget and received all of our work through word of mouth. 2. What do you like and/or appreciate the most about the industry? I loved selling. Helping people during one of the most stressful times was very rewarding to me. 3. How did you get involved with the NYSWMA Board of Directors, and how has this helped you or your business? Bruce Gold, with Gold Service Movers, another NYSMWA member, called me about attending a meeting in my area. I really enjoyed being amongst other industry professionals, being with like-minded people. I met the then-Director of AMSA at one of our meetings and ended up being in their quarterly magazine! The connections, people, help from other movers has been invaluable to me. 4. What do you like to do, outside of the business? I really enjoy playing pickle-ball now! . #NYmovers #MovingCompany #TradeAssociation #MovingIndustry #MeetYourBoard
