It’s not too late! There is still time to submit a concept paper for the U.S. Department of Energy’s $83M funding opportunity to decrease emissions in the hardest to decarbonize industrial subsectors. Concept papers are due March 19. Specifically for cement and concrete this funding opportunity has areas of interest addressing process emissions such as: 1) Novel Cement Formulations in Combination with Alternative Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCM) 2) Novel Lime/Portland Cement Production Processes The U.S. produces approximately 95 MMT of cement each year, representing nearly 400 million cubic yards of concrete. The complex value chain of this sector allows for opportunities in CO₂ savings from clinker substitution to final product end-of-life valorization. Find out more here:

Our wood pellets are thoroughly tested and meet a range of technical specifications. These specifications include fixed length and diameter, as well as important factors such as the ash content, mechanical durability, percentage of fines and weight of the pellets.ENplus® A1 wood pellets outperform other wood pellets, particularly in terms of ash content and durability. This means they burn cleaner and produce less ash, as well as being stronger and more durable during packaging, handling and transportation. Our pellet fuels are rigorously tested for ash and moisture content, which must be within set parameters. We also monitor the calorific value of the pellets and the percentage of additives they contain to ensure consistent quality. #fuel #supply #biomass #renewable #bioenergy #sustainable #woodpellet #ENplus #fsc #pefc

Perfect incinerator? Cement rotary kilns are perfect incinerators of non-recyclable waste. Due to its characteristics, the cement production process is the only one that allows the waste coprocessing without harming the product (cement) or the environment. Non-recyclable waste is added to the rotary kiln as an alternative fuel, substituting fossil fuels. This alternative fuel does not generate pollution, carbon gases and contributes to the circular economy. Some cement factories dose non-recyclable waste (tires, biomass, industrial sludge, waste oil, etc.) proportionally replacing the fossil fuel burned in the kiln. This system is called waste co-processing. How does co-processing benefit the environment and contribute to improving the social economy? Take a look at the video...!! The video is by Cement Manufacturers Ireland. You will see how the cement industry reduces its carbon footprint by using non-recyclable waste instead of fossil fuels. Of course, if you want more information on how ICC specialists can help optimize the cement plant, including through the co-processing of waste, click the links and contact us. https://lnkd.in/dfz49RFP - 𝗜𝗖𝗖 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 https://lnkd.in/eHzm8g_W - 𝗖𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 #INfluenCement ICC Independent Cement Consultants ICC Independent Cement Consultants (Brazil/LATAM) #cement #technology #innovation #networking #synergy #knowledge #experience #production #share #comment #like #follow #cemento #cimento #ciment #zement #worldwide #grinding #process #optimization #strategy #operation #maintenance #performance #building #partnership #spareparts #management #clinker #kiln #safety #combustion #cooler #consultants #products #manufacturing #sustainability #engineering #supply #productivity #environmental #help #development #brand #sponsorship #linkedin #project #work #team #growth #newsletter #concrete #engineer #energytransition #cleanenergy #powergeneration #sustainable #naturalgas #energy #thermalenergy #power #environment #circulareconomy #economy #oil #posts #socialmedia #professional #quality #startup #video #mechanical #training #research #marketing #services #chemical #energy

The International Energy Agency (IEA) identifies “energy and material efficiency” and “low-emissions fuels” as key short-term measures to cut carbon emissions from cement production processes. One company putting those suggestions into practice is California-based Furno. The company has created a modular, carbon-neutral, and scalable cement production plant. Rather than spend 10 years raising money to build a huge new plant, Furno’s kiln and combustion technology makes local, smaller-scale cement production possible in the near term. And the modularity of the system enables producers and other businesses to scale production on demand, rather than years from now. Furno’s system works with recycled concrete and any number of new and traditional materials. An X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) spectrometer analyses the composition of the materials and therefore their suitability for cement production. Depending on the elements present in the mix, the Furno team adds small amounts of additional materials to optimise the clinker. After being ground, the material undergoes four stages of chemical reactions inside the kiln, with an algorithm applying intense heat at precisely the moment it is needed. Part of the reason traditional cement production is so environmentally costly is the amount of fuel the processes use to maintain the required high temperatures. With Furno’s system, the heat is maximised at the most effective stage, helping to reduce production’s overall emissions. https://lnkd.in/dHM-gkPi

Terex introduces new electric shredder Terex Recycling Systems has expanded its product portfolio, with the launch of the TDS-V20SE Static Electric Shredder. The TDS-V20SE static electric shredder from Terex Recycling Systems Designed to handle a range of materials including commercial and industrial waste, wood and green waste, the medium-speed shredder can produce high-spec RDF (Refuse-derived fuel), SRF (solid recovered fuel / specified recovered fuel) and Biomass products. Key features of the electric shredder include a double shaft shredder chamber developed by Vecoplan, an electric-powered independent hydrostatic drive and a product sizing screen, all of which are said enhance operational efficiency while minimising environmental impact. Kenny Hull, Product & Commercial Manager of Terex Recycling Systems, said: “Terex Recycling Systems continues to grow from strength to strength. “With the addition of the TDS-V20SE to our product range, we now offer the already proven shredding technology from our existing mobile portfolio with the added benefit of electric power.” Suitable for waste management operations and recycling plants, the TDS-V20SE can be used as a standalone product or incorporated into new and existing recycling plants, and as either a primary or secondary shredder. According to Terex, the shredder’s “intuitive controls and pre-installed programmes” make it extremely user friendly. The screening system, available in various sizes, incorporates an intelligent protection system that allows operators to select their desired particle size while effectively handling foreign objects. “This capability to produce a controlled product size in a single pass not only saves time, but also aids efficiency,” said the OEM.
