Handball Coach & AI Enthusiast | Building US Handball National Teams | Focused on Athlete Development, Systems Building & High-Performance Environments | Podcast Host
"It pleases me on the one hand; on the other hand, it annoys me. It also makes me a little scared because it doesn't really advance our sport worldwide if only we Germans do it [organize major handball events]. So we do want it to become a global sport and for us to have similar popularity and enthusiasm in other countries as we do here, but in the end, the major events still take place here, and that's not enough. And that would lead the discussion too far to maintain Olympic status. So we have to continue developing [handball] internationally, and with that, I'll end my plea." — Stefan Kretzschmar I agree. Handball needs to exist outside of Germany and Europe. Handball needs to be relevant for the IOC to stay an Olympic sport🤾♂️. The support of the Olympic Games from US companies is significant🇺🇸. The Olympic Partner (TOP) program, established by the International Olympic Committee in 1985, is a category-exclusive program for global companies to become one of the main providers of the Olympic Games. The program features approximately 14 sponsors and some of the US companies that are part of the TOP program and sponsor the IOC include Coca-Cola 🥤, Airbnb 🏠, Bridgestone 🚗, Procter & Gamble 🧼, and Intel 🖥️. These companies invest a total of around $100 million each to obtain the highest level of IOC sponsorship. Therefore, US companies play a significant role in supporting the Olympic Games and the IOC, with their contributions being crucial for the staging of the Games and the operations of every organization within the Olympic Movement. If handball becomes relevant in the US, there is no question that handball will always be an Olympic sport. Handball is the biggest handball market that is still not “conquered”🎯. Stefan, Finn-Ole, Pascal, Mimi - you want handball to grow beyond Germany? We are ready, ready to work. The US is ready for handball. Let´s discuss. - Handball is America's next great sport 🌟. #UShandball #handball #USATH #USATeamHandball #harzblut 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙥 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 "𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙯𝙗𝙡𝙪𝙩 𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙃𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙠," 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 Dyn Media GmbH. Slovenia is small. Slovenia can't compete with big nations. Slovenia has only few hundred football players, basketball players, volleyball players... Few cyclists. Slovenia can't do this and that.. And yet: - Slovenia soccer team is playing in 1/8 finals on EURO 2024 - Slovenia volleyball team is playing in semifinal League of Nations - Slovenia basketball team with Luka Dončič is playing qualifications tournament for Paris Olympics - Slovenian Tadej Pogačar and Primož Roglič starting Tour de France as main favourites, trying to add another trophy to Giro 2024 -Slovenian both women and men handball team qualified for Olympics already So next time they tell you, you can't do something, you are too small, you are not competitive.. Say: Watch me! It's not about size! It's about mindset that have vision and heart that have boldness to to do things that can't be done. And I am not talking (just) about sports!😉 #mindset #success #vision

As an Italian, I couldn't help but be swept up in the national surge of tennis enthusiasm, reminiscent of the days when Paolino Cané triumphed over Mats Wilander, then the world's No. 1, in a legendary match in Cagliari. But perhaps, what unfolded with Jannik Sinner yesterday is even more extraordinary. Italy had already lost the first match, and there was Sinner, staring down a daunting 0-40 against Novak Djokovic. Djokovic, arguably the GOAT of tennis, 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 in his two-decade-long career. In that nail-biting moment, Sinner didn't just play tennis; he taught a universal lesson in resilience. His comeback serves as a metaphor for the professional journey. Like Sinner, 𝐰𝐞 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 when everything seems to turn against us. It's about mustering the courage to stand back up, to find our footing again amidst the chaos. Sinner's determination on the court mirrors the tenacity we need in our professional lives. The selection of the Indian table tennis team for the Paris 2024 Olympics has raised a lot of eyebrows. No Ayhika Mukherjee and no Sathiyan Gnanasekaran (both will travel as alternate players) in the list has compelled many to term the selection unfair. Subramanyan Raman, former head coach who led the team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the subsequent World Championships, spoke to Boria Majumdar on the issue and raised some serious questions about the selection. Boria: No Ayhika despite beating the Chinese world No. 1 two months back. How do you see this selection? Raman: I am surprised by this. Ayhika has done very well in the recent past, and beaten top-ranked players. The Chinese world No. 1 you mentioned is the ultimate benchmark in table tennis. Such is her aura that no one beats her. She has the best all-round game, and to beat her is something. I don’t remember a single Indian beating a top-ranked Chinese until Ayhika and, now, Manika [Batra] in the Saudi Smash. Also, she has done well at the Asian Games with Sutirtha [Mukherjee] and won the only medal for India. While I have nothing against Archana [Kamath] and she is a good player, just to go by rankings is not perhaps fair. Yes, you might have your policies, but that’s when selectors need to weigh in to see what’s the best team for India. If you don’t deep dive, then there is no point. If you just go by rankings, an accountant can do the job and you don’t need selectors or experts for the task. Read: https://lnkd.in/ga4uumii

What you learn in a team, will pave your way
My first ambition in life was to play Swedish handball professionally. I trained since childhood, with my father as my coach most of the way, and I am proud to say that I achieved alot on the handball court in Sweden, Chile and Brazil, but never close to my youthful aspirations. Eventually, I took another path in life, but the skills I learned on the court have always been with me and they have served me well. I was never the star player, but I learned leadership skills by playing the game. I learned how to rally a team and how to help teammates be their very best. The competitive mindset that comes from sports is always useful in business. But what was really valuable to me was learning how to help others do their best work. I owe a lot to the sport and have tried to give back by making an annual grant to two up and coming handball players each year. This year, I have chosen to support Hanna Lundvall and Pelle Segertoft. Pelle is already playing in Handbollsligan as well on the Swedish National Youth Team. Hanna will play in the National League this year and has already played on the Swedish National Youth Team. These two emerging players join past awardees in making a real impact on Swedish Handball. Please join me in congratulating them and all of our grant recipients: Stella Huselius, Felix Moller, Thea Blomst, Johans Sooneric, Hannah Scheuer, Alfred Jonsson, IK Sävehof, Pelle Segertoft and Hanna Lundvall. Play on! https://lnkd.in/e6BYT83q
