Creating partnership to build awareness, engage communities, and unite teams for a healthier tomorrow.
If you know me, you know I LOVE non-profits (made a career of it!) and I live in a reduce, reuse, recycle state of mind (making a lifestyle of it). I won’t lie, it can be taxing. It takes time and commitment, but it makes me feel good and there’s value in that. With reusing comes the interest in donating physical items to keep them out of landfills. I have a hard time just tossing, or blind donating .... sorry larger entities that take items, you're still on my list, just my LAST resort. I really like to find a good home and a good fit. I use my friends/family for ideas, search the web for local entities (non-profits?!), and sometimes I get lucky finding places that feel like a good fit. This week, I took my lunch hour to donate some of my gently used stuffed animals to the Hmong American Women's Association, Inc. (https://lnkd.in/gKjgvj8b) They were responsive to my emails (this has been a struggle with the numerous others contacted for this and other donations), timely with scheduling a drop and the kindest upon meeting and giving me a tour. Thank you for taking my donations and providing them to others who can use some love and snuggles! I look forward to assisting you more in the future. Note they take home, and children’s items as well. Contact them for their current needs. Would you like to see my list of favorite donation locations? It’s currently short and sweet (just like me) but it’s growing (also like me) with your suggestions. What are some of your favorite spots to donate to, name & and location? Bonus points if they take trickier items!

@18:46 on this video my son shares about the support provided by Bridge Communities, I also want to thank Judy Hsu for your beautiful words. This was an event held by Bridge Communities, the program that provided hope for my children and I, we are so thankful for their support. Housing insecurities hit more people than you may realize. This is why my home based baking business donates yearly to this program. We understand first hand what the struggle of being homeless feels like, not having a home to call your own takes a toll on the whole family. Here at Cake Charming LLC we are looking to connect with companies that have Corporate Social Responsibility Programs: Businesses looking to support social causes through their corporate social responsibility initiatives, who may purchase your cookies for events, employee perks, or corporate gifting. #BeSweetToYourself #YouDeserveIt #CorporateGifting #HomelessPrevention #DonateToday #CookiesThatCare #CookiesForACause #SupportHomelessPrevention #BakingABetterFuture #SweetChange #CookiesWithPurpose #EndHomelessness #CommunitySupport #BakeTheWorldBetter #SocialImpact #CookiesForGood #FoodForHope #MakingADifference #CharityCookies #GivingBack #HomelessAwareness #FoodForThought #EmpowerThroughBaking #SweetSolutions #AdvocateForHomeless #CookiesOfCompassion #Philanthropy #HopeInEveryBite #CommunityFirst #BakingHope #SocialGood #HomelessPrevention #BakeForChange #SupportAndSustain #CookiesForCommunity #EndingHomelessness #SweetSupport #CookiesForHope #HomelessnessAwareness #BakingForBetter #SupportShelters #HopeAndCookies #HomelessnessSolutions #BakeForGood #CookiesAndKindness #HelpingTheHomeless #CommunityCookies #BakeToEndHomelessness #CookiesThatCare #HomelessnessPrevention #SweetCharity #HopeAndHelp #CookiesForChange #SupportTheHomeless #KindnessThroughCookies #BakingToGiveBack

Join us in spreading love and support this Mother's Day! It can be scary finding yourself pregnant when you don't feel safe and supported. The Cornelia Program provides safety and support for pregnant women and mothers who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless. With 45 beautiful, brand new Apartments, Cornelia offers women and their babies a safe and secure home for up to 12 months. The program also provides specialist maternity, post-natal and other health care on site, and when the time is right, helps mothers to exit the program into stable long-term housing. This Mother's Day, we're collecting small gifts to brighten the day of these fearless mothers. Whether it's a scented candle for a moment of relaxation, a bougie voucher to a luxury Spa, a handwritten note of encouragement and appreciation, or a journal to capture precious memories, every contribution makes a difference. Here's how you can get involved: - Donate a gift: Drop off your donations to HousingFirst, St Kilda Rd - message for address details. - Spread the word: Share this post and tag friends who might want to contribute. - Host your own drive: Share with your organization and create a donation box for colleagues' contributions. - Reach out: Message us for delivery details, collections or if you have any questions about how you can help. Let's show these incredible mothers that they are seen, valued, and supported this Mother's Day. Your kindness and generosity can make all the difference.

We still have much more work beyond March, like with July for Black Women, August for Moms, October for Latina Women, November for Native Women…and that’s only naming a few! Was such an honor last week to engage in discussions and hear what we all must still do from Barbara Turner, Alicia Miller, Holly Hankinson, Sara Kahmann, CFRE - their inspiring journeys, community leadership, and philanthropic commitments. Proud of progress made and relentless advocacy from The Women's Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation , continuing to bring us together and empowering progress. Got to meet & learn from community champions & allies, and some of whom weren’t even allowed to open their own bank accounts to deposit their initial unequal paychecks on their own either. (Since 1974 was landmark with yet another Act to make it happen despite already law in 1960). How lucky am I that get to benefit from so much courage and wisdom from those before me? How lucky am I that Microsoft is committed to transparency breeding equity & inclusion? - sharing pay range data with JD’s & not asking about salary history. How lucky am I that I am empowered to continue our fight for a better for future, where all can participate, prosper, & reach their potential? Not to be underestimated, should be celebrated and pushed for more accountability; I have faith and fury that our elected officials & networks will work harder to catch up. (PS - Appreciate the nudge on this unique forum and also for your continued board commitment, Jyotsna Bernet! ) #PayTransparency #MSFTAdvocate #EqualPayDay #AdvancingEquity
Gratitude Alert! The Women's Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation gives a heartfelt shoutout to Barbara Turner and her incredible foundation, BT RISE for their generous sponsorship of our recent fundraiser held on March 14, in recognition of Equal Pay Day! Barbara's unwavering support for Equal Pay resonates deeply with our mission at The Women's Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation . Barbara, your dedication to our cause empowers us to continue our vital work, striving for equality and empowerment for women and girls. Thank you for being a beacon of hope and change in our community. We are truly grateful for your partnership! #EmpowerWomen #BTRise #ThankYouBarbara

Can men write about women’s issues? It’s been reported today by The Guardian and Ipsos UK that more boys and men from Generation Z (16%) than those from the Baby Boomer generation (13%) think feminism has done more harm than good. It’s a headline-grabbing comparison because it goes against the received wisdom that every new generation is more progressive than the last. Although the percentages themselves are quite small, the comparison is striking. It feels strange to imagine misogynist grandparents and grandchildren rounding on liberal parents in family discussions about gender equity. It’s just one survey. But it signals a potentially worrying trend, inflamed by misogynistic influencers on social media. But it also got me thinking about men’s relationship to women’s issues in purpose-led communications. Even if men are writing with good intentions, they may lack the necessary empathy for their copy to resonate with the people who matter most. A couple of years ago, I wrote the website copy for 18 Keys, a women’s refuge in London. https://lnkd.in/eNEJ-Exd I could write ABOUT sisterly camaraderie and safe female-only spaces. But I couldn’t IMAGINE that experience as well as a female writer could. I was careful to make space for affected women’s voices, and I was reassured by the fact that most of the rest of the project team were women. But my empathy was limited. I had similar thoughts when co-writing a proposal recently on an anti-racism project. We agreed that the interviews we planned with people who had experienced racism would be better conducted by my Black project partner. This would give us a better chance of bringing the truth to light. What’s your experience of representing groups you are not a part of? What steps can we take in the production and delivery of our communications to make them equitable? #Writing #EthicalStorytelling #Feminism #GenerationZ #BabyBoomers #AntiRacism #Copywriting #PurposeLed

Representation matters. Starting in 2022, Carson Group began annually commissioning a research study investigating the experiences and perceptions of both women and men on the opportunities and challenges faced by female advisors in the financial services industry. The intent is to conduct this study annually, tracking year-over-year changes in the experience of women in wealth management – financial advisors, operations leaders and firm owners – as well as the perceptions of that experience by women and men alike. #womeninwealth #carsongroup #ally
