Self-mastery, manifestation and energetics for creative visionaries and talent | Rock the stage you were born for
Are we setting women up to WIN in the music industry? There’s a huge issue we are facing as women in music. Women in the music industry feeling powerless. And we are not powerless just because of outside and external issues we face We are powerless because we are buying into and driving a ‘problem and negative based narrative’ in the industry that is perpetuating itself day in, day out. Leaving women feeling deflated, like there’s no hope and women haven’t found the courage and personal power to drive change Women need to RAISE women up. All women. Its time to question and change this industry narrative. By helping women work through imposter syndrome, tall poppy syndrome, and even the battle between women themselves So they feel empowered working in this industry Because we work in the BEST industry in the world Women feeling empowered, having voices, raising the energy of the industry, talking more about the positive and extraordinary things happening for women in the industry, feeling like they BELONG. Setting up the next generation of women to have the greatest experience and more chance to thrive. If you’re a woman in music and you’ve been feeling like there is no hope, THERE IS And it begins with you feeling empowered in your authenticity. And I’m here to remind you of who you really are. What are your thoughts? 💭

Empowering voices: Addressing gender diversity in metal music 🔊 I'm incredibly lucky to be able to live out a dream of mine, being a part of Konvent that I founded 9 years ago and getting the chance to play all over the world. But with that also comes responsibility of fostering a community that is including and diverse. I am therefore immensely proud to take part in this panel debate at INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL in Oslo, alongside 4 awesome women next week. We'll be exploring the path toward greater gender diversity and inclusivity in metal and delving into the challenges female artists face in this often male-dominated industry. Is it a matter of interest, or do women have to work harder to prove their worth? We will share our own experiences and insights as musicians, and examine the possible reasons for this gender disparity. The discussion will also touch on topics such as cultural norms, the need to prove one's musical talent and authenticity, the influence of networking and booking practices on gender balance, and the categorization of women through labels like "female-fronted bands." We pose the question: Is there a need for concrete strategies to foster a more inclusive and diverse metal community, and to empower women in metal music? Let's amplify the voices that need to be heard and foster a metal community that resonates with everyone ❤️

In recognition of Women’s History Month, the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative has released a pivotal report detailing the progress and ongoing challenges faced by women in the music industry. A study spanning 12 years and examining 1,200 songs from Billboard's Hot 100 Year-End Charts indicates a significant upswing in the presence of female artists, hitting a 12-year peak at 35%. Despite this, women remain underrepresented overall, holding less than a quarter of artist roles. A surge in female songwriters is noted as well, particularly among women of color, climbing to 19.5% in 2023. Production roles, however, continue to exhibit a disparity, with women only reaching a "modest high," underscoring the long road ahead toward gender parity. The importance of women of color in propelling industry change cannot be overstated, representing 65% of female artists in recent charts. Initiatives like "She Is The Music," "Spotify Equal," and "Girls Make Beats" have been highlighted as critical in advancing inclusivity, yet the call for collective action remains to eliminate systemic obstacles that impede women's progress, especially those from marginalized communities. As the music industry evolves, the report emphasizes the necessity of amplifying the voices of women of color and maintaining a focus on diversity and representation. Read the full story by Stacy M. I chatted with Jenessa Williams of The Forty-Five about the recent findings of the Women & Equality report into music industry misogyny.... “The power of shared experiences, advice, and collective support creates a formidable force that only emboldens me to continue to take a stand against misogyny. It’s also important to highlight that women’s inclusion doesn’t simply relate to the people on stage or in the charts. Women are still fighting tooth and nail for a seat at the table where decisions are made, where careers are shaped, and where the future of the industry is charted out. Until we break down those barriers and let women take an equal charge across the board, we’re only scratching the surface of what true equality in the music industry looks like. What is the point of claiming inclusivity if you’re only platforming neurotypical white middle-class women, or if no attention is paid to the women behind the scenes?” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dza4BY5v

It is truly special when my diverse interests come together with a shared purpose and cause that holds great meaning for me. I feel privileged to serve as a Hunna ambassador and be given the opportunity to moderate the first physical gathering held at Merwas in honor of International Women's Day. The event started with a panel discussion focusing on women in music, gender equality, and inclusivity. We had trailblazing women in the music industry sharing their insights, highlighting the challenges, disparities, and opportunities specific to the MENA region. Globally, women in music face marginalization, constituting only 21.6% of credits from 2012 to 2021 in the top 100 Billboard. This isn't just about musicians this goes to behind the scenes; writers, producers, sound engineers, talent managers, and so on. The conversation shifts when discussing gender equality in this region, where the music industry is still budding, with both public and private institutions fostering inclusivity across various sectors. Unlike challenges in the Western world, issues here are more about awareness, expertise, and overcoming apprehensions. While the opportunities are abundant, the key lies in knowing about them, acquiring the necessary skills, and having the courage to pursue what calls you. So know thyself, educate yourself and be brave.

Exciting news from the University of Southern California's Annenberg Inclusion Initiative: The 2023 report shows a remarkable improvement in women's participation in the music industry's biggest hits! 👩🎤 Key Highlights: - 35% of the credited performing artists on last year's top tracks were women—the highest since 2012! - A groundbreaking 56% of the most popular songs had at least one female songwriter. This progress is especially significant as it marks a shift towards greater inclusivity, with women of color leading the surge in songwriting roles. 🚀 Yet, There's More to Achieve: While we celebrate these achievements, it's crucial to acknowledge that women still represent a small fraction in technical roles like production. Only 6.5% of top songs had a female producer in 2023. 📢 Let’s Keep the Momentum Going! How can we continue to support and empower women across all areas of the music industry? What strategies should we adopt to ensure sustained growth? Share your insights, experiences, or suggestions in the comments below. Let’s brainstorm together to keep breaking barriers and building a more inclusive music world! #MusicIndustry #WomenInMusic #Inclusivity #Empowerment #AnnenbergInclusionInitiative #ChangeMakers #thoughtsfromCEO

Right from Taylor Swift’s Earth Shaking Concerts to Miley Cyrus Winning a Grammy, It’s Women Taking Over All Across! Known for her empowering lyrics and feminist advocacy, Taylor cultivates an atmosphere of solidarity and celebration amongst women at her concerts. Her ability to connect with her audience through themes of resilience and self-empowerment has resonated strongly with women of all ages. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus recently made headlines when she clinched a well-deserved Grammy Award for her breathtaking work. Breaking free from her former Disney image, she has reinvented herself as a fearless and versatile artist. Be it Nirmala Sitharaman in India or Kamala Harris in the US, women are leading by example across domains. This is the time when women-supporting-women hasn’t just become a choice but a norm. The empowerment of women is a rallying cry, resonating from the boardrooms to grassroot communities. The current scenario emphasizes collaboration over competition, creating a momentum where each woman's success is seen as a triumph for the entire community. Because while queens fix each other’s crowns, we also make sure that our voices are not only heard but also amplified in unison. #womensday2024 #womenempowerment #womeninbusiness #leadership #goals #support Picture Credit: Forbes

Today #March8, Annie Lennox's message from 2019 comes very much to the point! ➡ Her message on #GlobalFeminism highlighted the need for Western feminists to stand in solidarity with women in less privileged countries. It was a poignant reminder of the universal nature of feminism and the imperative of solidarity and action on behalf of all women, regardless of geographical location or socio-political context. 📣 Therefore aligning with the spirit of #InternationalWomensDay, I am calling out collectively for a global perspective and local action for #GenderEquality. 👉🏽Acknowledging what #IWD is all about: claiming a world where every individual can live free from discrimination and oppression heals. 🌍 In #feminism we must also #ThinkGlobal and #ActLocal seriously addressing #gendergap in all countries. After all feminism should be about fundamental human rights, urging people to look beyond political divides! 💡Resolving disparities requires concerted efforts at many levels (individual/ community/society) including policy reforms, cultural shifts, and investment in education and healthcare infrastructure. By recognizing and addressing these disparities, societies can work towards greater gender equality and social justice for all individuals. 💙 Let´s not deny there is still so much work to do on this matter, ignoring what’s evident has never helped humanity ⬇️
