On workplace grievances, according to Section 12 of the Employment Act, 2007, a grievance policy is mandatory if the employer has 50 or more employees. According to Section 12, the employer is supposed to put a policy in place indicating the person to whom an employee should apply to seek redress for any grievance relating to his employment and the steps to be followed in the process. There must be mechanisms for raising grievances in the workplace, whether or not an employer has 50 or more employees. Failure by an employer to consider and determine employee grievances could be grounds for the employee to allege constructive dismissal.
