The Biden-Harris administration has proposed a rule for minimum staffing levels for nursing homes at a level BELOW what recent studies have recommended. ◼ The proposal sets 3.0 total nursing Hours Per Resident Per Day (HPRPD) instead of 4.1 nursing HPRPD with .55 RN hours instead of .75 RN HPRPD ◼ 3.0 is BELOW the level recommended by experts and research, & BELOW the current national average! ◼ We recommend 4.2 total nursing hours per resident per day, including .75 RN Hours Per Resident Per Day, 1.4 Licensed (LPN) nursing Hours Per Resident Per day, and 2.8 qualified nurse aide Hours Per Resident Per Day. 2wIt is extremely vital to have hands-on education with an experienced WOCN-educated/certified RN preceptor. There are multiple courses out there these days that are CEU courses but not CERTIFYING bodies that are promising robust wound care education and the nurses taking these courses do not know what they don't know.....
