Check out this in-depth article about the future of EdTech! It’s a quick read, and who knows maybe you’ll get some insight into a world we’ve all been consumers in!
What do Avalanche VC, etch.club, and Talent Lab Solutions EdTech predictions for 2024 all have in common? Focusing more on learning inputs (classroom culture, individual thinking, mental process), than measuring outcomes (teacher-managed activities, assessments, enrollment). Narrowing the lens to classroom culture, there's a tremendous opportunity to drive inclusion through explicit collaboration. Read more on my latest post, Learning Inputs & Passion-Based Opportunities. (P.S. Shoutout to Edtech Insiders for being my #1 podcast in 2023 and being a great resource for this article!) https://lnkd.in/eABfNKUe

This week on Embedded, Prof. AnnMarie Thomas spoke with Chris White and Elecia White about playful learning through joy, whimsy, surprise, and meeting new people. Listen here( https://lnkd.in/eaVm9wk3 ) or anywhere you get your podcast! Here's an excerpt from the show: Chris (33:58): Does it also mean figuring out when something is not a good idea? AnnMarie (34:03): Oh, I love that. Yes. Figuring out when something is not a good idea. Like which ideas should you try, and then you give up on at some point? An example that I give my students often, I think many of your listeners are US based, so if you are trying to get to Mexico, you are trying to drive south. We are in Minnesota trying to drive south to Mexico, but your car is pointing towards Canada. (34:25) Even if you slow the car down, it is not going to help you out. You need to turn direction. There are some times when you just have to turn the car around. It does not matter if you slow down or speed up, you are going in the wrong direction. And learning how to do that is super important. … AnnMarie (34:44): When I was a very young professor, I remember talking about the joys of the design process and iteration. One of these gentlemen from a medical company pulled me aside, and said, "The way you talk about iteration is not really accurate." He said, "You make it sound like iterating is this great thing. Iterating is good. However, iterating- You want to find problems as early as you can to save money. And building a full scale bridge to find out the design was wrong, it would have been nice if you could have figured that out in software." (35:12) So I think there is a nuance there, right, of how do you know when something is not going to work? #play #learning #playful #innovation #podcast #engineering #embedded
