We are so thankful at the Wilmington Air Park - and have so many to thank. https://lnkd.in/gDW8zFwN “This state allocation provides the catalytic funds we need for our second runway reopening project,” said Port Authority Executive Director T. Alex Beres. “For years we’ve known that we’d need a significant funding source to allow us to begin the work of preserving and rehabilitating a major economic development asset for the region, and this does that.” #EconomicDevelopment #CargoAirport

40 years ago (yesterday) Richard Noble set a new Land Speed Record of 633mph in Thrust2. Along the way he set a new British Land Speed record of 248 mph on the runway at the the Greenham Common airbase. Richard would go on to set the record higher in Thrust SSC (piloted by Andy Green) at 763mph and then formulate the plans for Bloodhound SSC to take the speed over 1000mph. Bloodhound hasn't made it yet. the vehicle sits in Coventry Transport Museum. Having had a peripheral involvement with Bloodhound, when I left McLaren, I watched with fascination how technically complex raising the funds for the venture was. What strikes me is how the landscape of grand innovation has changed within the UK in the last few decades. Gone is the philanthropist capital that propelled and powered great engineering feats for the good of the UK. Had Lady Houston, not given Supermarine £100,000 in 1931 to ensure the Schneider Trophy went ahead, against the wishes of Ramsey McDonald's government of the day, then Britain would not have won the Schneider trophy that year and the Spitfire would not have been born.... Bloodhound got well and truly lied to and screwed over by the UK government, but the appetite for philanthropy enabling grand ambition, to lead the world in engineering feats such as Bloodhound and land speed records has well and truly gone. Which is a shame as the UK still has the Engineering skills and talent, just not the political will, funding or regulatory freedom to thrive. #innovation #ukplc #landspeedrecord #britishengineering #richardnoble

According to this Tampa Bay Times article, 230,000 cars pass through the south county daily, but it doesn't specify the number during rush hour. If there were approximately 30,000 cars during rush hour and the ferry was able to remove around 3,000 vehicles from the road, it could result in a 10% decrease in traffic. This could alleviate congestion for all residents in the county. The potential of Tampa Bay's untapped resource for regional ferry services is immense. The Tampa Bay Ferries Alliance firmly believes ferry service is a proven, adaptable, and highly effective transit option, offering a cost-effective solution to connect communities and move people efficiently. The Alliance will continue to work with Hillsborough and Pinellas County residents, community partners, and government leaders to make this a reality. https://lnkd.in/eQb7NXp6 The Tampa Bay Ferries Alliance is an independent nonprofit organization committed to bringing quality, sustainable, permanent year-round ferry service to the Tampa Bay region. #transportation #tampabay #transit #apollobeach #ferry #gibsonton #riverview

Matrix is a Universal Rental Application that is changing the landscape of the growing, $500 billion rental housing market. Matrix features a single, reusable application with a single fee, powered by real-time data and producing an “ability to pay” score. Using a variety of factors, including assets, income and previous rental history, the result is more inclusive scoring that gives property managers faster, more accurate insights into the full financial profile of a prospective tenant. Matrix removes the potential for source of income discrimination, taking the subsidy into consideration and automating the underwriting process. Today’s processing time for affordable housing applications is approximately 36 days. This leads to compounding losses, making public housing acceptance simply not an option for many owners. Matrix streamlines the acceptance process and shortens it by up to 50%, helping more owners make their properties available to affordable housing and get leased faster. For more information, please visit https://lnkd.in/eh829Sxy.
Without a process, what happens when too many people enter through the same narrow door? Matrix Rental Solutions has developed the technology to support the expansion of the supply of affordable housing. Want to know more? Get in touch! #AffordableHousing #RentalHousing #Proptech #NMHC #NAA #NAR

Having come across several articles, and subsequent reactions to CA Forever, here's adding substance to a few of those comments: - Inevitable traffic. "No city is an island." Regardless of how walkable Forever will become internally, most of the surrounding communities are car-dependent, having Walkscores in the 30’s to 40’s (0-100 scale), and even lower transit scores. Unless most possible errands/trips can be done thru a combination of walking and trouble-free, timely transit, people will drive. - To suggest that this development can fund its transportation needs, as well as help improve their neighboring cities' downtowns is hard to believe. The hundreds of millions dollars that have been offered won't come close to creating connections and communities that are walkable or transit friendly. - The traffic impacts and infra needs on this project are off target with the state’s ambitious GHG-reduction goals, and the county’s Climate Action Plan (2011). - In order to provide - unsubsidized - the amenities promised, Forever will have to resort to private markets, and tax or fee-backed financing. The requisite land/improvement value and taxes suggest a community that would be beyond the means of low- and moderate-income households. - Insurance: While this area doesn't appear to currently be a high fire risk per CalFire, once structures are built amid rolling hills and blustery winds, it probably will. Add to that pressures on insurance premiums - for everyone in the state. Many people share Forever's vision of resilient, livable and sustainable communities, and frustration with the housing shortage; complex laws and bureaucracies; and NIMBY that stymie infill. These drive the desire to suburbanize paradise. I wish we collectively could find solutions toward fulfilling these goals without perpetuating forever problems.
And we thought the Concord Naval Weapons Base project was going to be big. If what’s contemplated near Rio Vista was a celestial body and Concord was Earth, Rio Vista would be the sun. Almost. It’s so big! The California Forever project “transforms” 60,000 acres of farmland, “reinventing” it as a brand-new city just west of Rio Vista and east of Travis Air Force Base. It promises housing and jobs and economic investment in nearby delta communities. Anyone who has spent even a little time in the delta communities has experienced in places a classic brownfield landscape. Many of the big smokestacks have packed up and moved away, and the communities that once relied on these employers have been stressed. The delta towns are far enough away from the Northern California urban centers that competition for tourists and visitors is hard. A visionary investment as big as the sun would certainly change fortunes. All of them? Hard to say. Personally, I have mixed emulsions. From a politics, planning and development perspective this endeavor is fascinating. From the perspective of one who favors investment in the existing built environment and keeping open spaces open and preserving ag for ag, this evokes a different emotion. https://lnkd.in/gyvVw8kN

The Northern Territory Government’s focus on road funding has heightened investor interest in service station assets in the Top End. LJ Hooker Commercial Darwin is currently fielding interest in a BP-tenanted service station a 10-minute drive from the Port of Darwin on the Stuart Highway at Winnellie. The NT Budget included $4.07bn in road and transport funding, including $2.01bn for sealing to connect the state with the East Coast, making it the largest infrastructure commitment in the Territory’s history. The transport commitments complement the Australian Government’s recent Defence Strategic Review which highlighted the importance of resilient infrastructure in the Northern Territory in shoring-up national security. Did you know over 50 years ago, King County voters rejected a rapid transit system that would have been 75% funded by the federal government? Seattle would have looked a lot different than it does today. Fast forward, Seattle now has a light rail transportation system and with a plan to expand commuters and residents will have easier access to the city and surrounding areas. Sylwia Jarosz discusses in this video what the light rail means for real estate and how the expansion plan could affect your investment and home. . . . #everydoorrealestate #realestate #washingtonrealestate #edre #everydoorre #residentialrealestate #seattle #pnwlife #lightrailexpansion #masstransit #transportation #masstransportation #trainsystem #lightrailseattle #lightrail #lightrailtrain #everett #tacoma #downtownseattle #seattlewa #sodo #ballard #redmondwa #westseattle #publictransportation

HELP? and NOW a Bit Louder HELP! I wish I didn't have to say anything, but you know when you are emailing, messaging and speaking to people and the leads are very far and few between perhaps I have to eat a bit of 'humble pie', and try to play the 'veteran card'? Here goes...... And a lot of the people I have been targeting have signed the Armed Forces Covenant! Without naming and shaming, I have done a lot of things to try and get 'an in', recognition of 'us', our 'accreditations', our recent work and efforts, and tbh as grateful as we are for the work we have received we need MORE? So I am a 'VETERAN', and I although I would prefer NOT to play that card and ask for someone to listen, I need someone to please listen and respond. We / Me getting an edge, having someone realise 'actually' this guy / STAT1 can do 'Manned Guarding' really well, might be the catalyst for the start of people, to speak to us and want to give us a try so that we might add value for them and their operations. It isn't about me, it is about my purpose, me helping others, who share my vision, but we need responses, people, businesses, if they are dissatisfied with their current security arrangements to reach out. If they want and deserve better, please speak to us? We aren't asking for charity, we are asking for opportunity, a chance to perform, a chance to showcase our potential. We are Construction Line GOLD Accredited, we have the SSIP Acclaim certificate, we get wrote up positively wherever we get tasked. But we don't seem to be able to speak to the right people: procurement, buyers, QS or site managers? We are based in Yorkshire and Humber but for the right opportunity we are also willing and prepared to strike out where there is demand and need. #veteranbusiness #armedforcescovenant #rail #nationalgrid #power #crsa #balfourbeatty #amey #networkrail #yorkshirewater
