Rolling Meadows is where iReturn started back in 2017! Over the last four years, Jimmy, a Northrop Grumman hiring manager, has had the pleasure of interviewing, training or hiring 7 of the nearly 40 Rolling Meadows-based iReturners and feels it has been a wonderful experience across the board. “In all the cases I’ve come across, the employment gap has been a result of common life events. The common theme among all these events is what I like to call ‘managing chaos’. Plans change often around here, and having someone with the patience to understand that plans change, and chaos can be managed is incredibly helpful.” Jimmy knows the value of iReturn and knows the positive impact a manager can have on someone’s confidence as they return. “The hiring manager can be most helpful with the iReturner by being transparent, providing resources/mentors, and setting clear goals.” Are you thinking about returning to work after a current 2+ year career break? Jimmy’s advice is to take the leap! “We have the mentors to train everyone and processes to keep an individual on track – we’ve been doing this for years and we’ve refined our process down to a science. Career self-reliance. A term we use a lot in our executive career transition programs. I caught up with Stuart this morning. After a long and stable career to date, he made a move, and it didn’t work out. He finished within his probation period. A shift in the market and lack of values alignment are most probably the culprits. What’s Stuart been doing since? He’s structured his days as though he is still working. And his full-time job is to find a job. Leveraging his networks, social media, as well as grinding through job board applications is keeping Stuart busy for 40+ hours per week. He isn’t expecting the perfect role to come to him, he is chasing it. Granted, it’s not easy to manage the emotional impact of such a change in circumstances but I have a feeling Stuart is going to be fine. #Executiverecruitment #CEOcareer #Careerchallenges

~~ Are you walking through doors going nowhere? ~~ There is a route I take when I’m running that goes around this old neighborhood. There is a mixture of old lake houses with new houses sprouting up all over. But every time I pass this house, I pause, look at this gate and always ask, “Why do they have this?” “Where does this door go?” “This is pretty, but what does it do?” And the answer is it’s just for show and it really does nothing hahaha. - - - And so often, in our careers, We take these same doors. We stay in jobs that don’t serve our true purpose or goals. We take promotions instead of taking chances on starting our own businesses. We start jobs that are safe and cushy instead of taking a job that will fulfill us.
