Beryl made landfall as a Category 1 storm, affecting over 2.7 million people and businesses in Texas. Most of Houston experienced power outages due to the storm’s impact. Tragically, at least two deaths have been attributed to Beryl. Beryl was initially a Category 5 hurricane, making it the earliest such storm ever recorded in the Atlantic. As it crossed the Caribbean, it gradually weakened and was downgraded to a tropical storm. The storm brought life-threatening conditions, including storm surge, damaging winds, and flooding. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts an active hurricane season. Up to seven major hurricanes (Category 3 and above) are expected. It’s crucial for residents in affected areas to stay informed, prepare, and follow safety guidelines during hurricane threats. Remember to stay vigilant and heed official advisories to protect yourself and your community during hurricane events.

The National Hurricane Center reported at 4AM CDT July 8 Hurricane Beryl made landfall near Matagorda, Texas as a Category One with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph. Life-threatening storm surge and strong winds are occurring with considerable flash and urban flooding expected. For more information visit http://hurricanes.gov (https://t.co/tW4KeGe9uJ) #Beryl broke some historical records as an early season Cat 5 and if it serves as an indicator of things to come this season, the peak may prove to be very challenging. #BePrepared https://lnkd.in/eng-ggkP
