July is National Disability Pride Month. Disability Pride Month celebrates the history, achievements, and experiences of those within the Disability Community. This month of awareness commemorates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. This Act was passed on July 26th with a focus on promoting equal opportunities for all individuals living with disabilities. This month, we celebrate 34 years of the ADA!

While this is not recognized as a national holiday, July marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) legislation that opened the door to a more inclusive society. For some, Disability Pride Month is recognizing your disability and loving who you are for it; others celebrate the wins in learning to navigate their disability; or some show their support by just listening and elevating disabled voices. Did you know? July is Disability Pride Month! Globally celebrated, Disability Pride Month is a time for disabled folks to celebrate our achievements individually and as a whole. Here in the US, July 26th is also the 24th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act being passed, so this month also serves as a reminder for how far we've come and how far we still have to go in regards to disability rights.
