Message to Mr. Warren Buffett: I assume we agree that philanthropists' tax-deductible donations into the billions mean that their companies are very profitable. Most people feel we are already in a recession or close to going into a recession in the USA. Most Americans might suggest that your employees would benefit from higher wages. As CEO, you can convince shareholders that you can help your employees more with lower-cost health insurance, 401K benefits, job training, college tuition reimbursement, and childcare benefits. By paying higher wages and providing employee benefits, you, in effect, would help prevent homelessness and improve the American economy. Take control of where your money ends up saving lives here in the USA. Try to help protect our Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid programs; maybe first help thousands of employees already under the Berkshire Hathaway umbrella achieve the American dream of owning a home. As part of their compensation plan, all employees could benefit from lower insurance rates from Geico or a $2.99 low-cost lunch at any restaurant under your direction. Your employees love you. Could you help them more? You are a great example to all of us. You can make it happen. 🧐

Got hold of this literary and well-researched piece after a bit of pondering and trying to get over the fawning media coverage of the Netflix Series on Gates. I've always been an ardent fan and will always be one, but as it's said, we should look through on both sides of a coin and after outlining the vagaries, the ingratiating praise has surely simmered down, if not evaporated. The book is a critical examination of Bill Gates' use of his wealth and influence through the Gates Foundation reveals how his actions may advance his own agenda while potentially undermining democratic institutions. How much wealth should one individual be allowed to accumulate? Would your opinion change if that person were perceived as a saint? From being seen as greedy to generous, cold-hearted to kind-hearted, rogue to hero, Bill Gates is an extraordinarily complex public figure. However, over the last decade, public perception has flattened his image to that of a sweater-wearing, avuncular, well-meaning billionaire, who is resolutely giving away all his money through the Gates Foundation to improve the lives of others.
