Lock files more easily in Google Drive Google is adding the option to lock Drive files by right-clicking the file, selecting “File information”, and clicking “Lock”. Locking a file makes sure reviewers can’t change a file. Edits, comments and suggestions can't be added to locked documents.  This update simplifies and streamlines the process of restricting files in Drive, which was previously only available through the Google Drive API or through file approvals.  #google #googleworkspace #googleupdates #gtrustycloud

Google rolls out file locking for Workspace customers Google is introducing a new functionality for Google Workspace users: the capacity to lock Google Drive files. During the period in which a file is locked, individuals with any level of access will be unable to make alterations, add comments, or provide suggestions; essentially, the file becomes read-only until you decide to unlock it. What’s changing in Google Drive?🔐 Google is adding a new feature that allows users to lock files in Google Drive. To lock a file, users can right-click on the file, select "File information", and then click "Lock". Once a file is locked, reviewers will no longer be able to make changes to it. Edits, comments, and suggestions will also be disabled. This new feature makes it easier to restrict access to files in Google Drive. Previously, users could only lock files through the Google Drive API or through file approvals.
