🚀 **The Future of Entry-Level Roles: Navigating the Impact of AI** 🤖 As AI integration accelerates, the landscape of entry-level roles is poised for significant transformation. With just 1.5 years of experience as an entry-level accountant, I foresee AI's looming influence on our profession. Recently, I stumbled upon Extractly and Statemently, pioneering AI products that signify just the beginning of a profound shift in our field. This prompts a crucial question: how prepared are today's graduates for the evolving demands of the job market? Traditionally, bachelor's and master's programs in accounting may not fully equip students with the job-ready skills needed in an AI-dominated era. This begs the possibility of universities adapting their curriculum to prioritize practical readiness. Expect fiercer competition as employers increasingly seek candidates with pre-existing job proficiency. The days of securing entry-level positions solely based on academic credentials may be numbered. Transitioning into this new paradigm won't be easy, but it's essential for us to adapt and evolve. Let's remain optimistic as we navigate this journey together. What are your thoughts on the future of entry-level roles in the age of AI? 🤔 #FutureofWork #AIinAccounting #Adaptability #Extractly

Helping higher ed leaders increase student retention to record highs! I design, deliver and report on leadership programs that students use to engage their campus | Founder, Campus Consultancy [60k+ leaders supported]
Did you know, 70% of employers expect graduates to have "AI experience"? 🤖 But, only **1% of students in Australia** even mention AI (or A.I.) on their profile. Here's what students, staff and university leaders can do about it. WHAT CAN STUDENTS DO? As #studentleaders, you have an opportunity to experiment with AI tools to improve your projects, and share your learnings on LinkedIn, on your resume and in job interviews. If you're not involved in volunteering or student-led projects, join and start experimenting today! WHAT CAN STAFF DO? As staff, you can firstly start using and sharing these tools yourself. I recently gave a keynote where 75% of the audience of 200 staff were using AI in the past 7 days! This is a great sign, and now we must pass on these skills to students. We can't let the unknown stop us learning. Not only is this great for YOUR JOB AND PERFORMANCE, it's impossible to teach something you don't know yourself. WHAT CAN UNIVERSITY LEADERS DO? Firstly, you can look through all their CURRENT JOB POSTINGS, search AI/A.I. and see what % of jobs even require AI experience, skills or interest. If it's not 100%, we have a problem. Second, you can look through all their COURSE OUTLINES, search AI/A.I. and see what % of courses include AI tools and learning outcomes. If it's not 100%, we have a problem. Third, you can allow students to use AI in their studies. Stopping them is not as powerful as learning yourself (and teaching them) the 'right way' to use AI. This isn't easy, but it might well be the issue of our time. 🤖 Do you agree or disagree? Do you have other ideas? Please let me know in the comments... 🤖 #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #StudentEngagement

How can AI help create more transparency in understanding skills and competences? This has been one of my favourite topics in educational innovation for many years, and now it is happening faster than ever! AI has started a new era in identifying and showcasing skills and competencies. AI's role in making these attributes transparent is a game-changer for both employers and employees, revolutionizing talent management and career development. AI-driven tools are adept at analysing vast datasets, which can be leveraged to unearth hidden talents and skills among employees. This capability is particularly beneficial in large organizations where individual competencies can often go unnoticed. By using AI to assess performance data, project contributions, and even informal interactions, companies can gain a comprehensive understanding of their employees' skills and potential. For job seekers and professionals, AI provides an opportunity to showcase their abilities in a more dynamic and accurate way. AI-powered platforms can help create detailed skill profiles based on work history, educational background, and online courses. These profiles offer a more nuanced and comprehensive view of a candidate's capabilities, going beyond the limitations of traditional resumes. Moreover, AI facilitates continuous learning and skill development. By identifying skill gaps and emerging industry trends, AI can recommend tailored learning paths and resources, aiding professionals in staying relevant and competitive. In essence, AI's ability to illuminate skills and competencies promises a more efficient, transparent, and dynamic workplace, benefiting both organizations and their employees. Embracing this technology will be key in harnessing the full potential of the workforce in the rapidly evolving professional landscape. It is also worth thinking what this all means for our higher education system, which relies strongly on degrees, courses, and credits. No doubt there is space and need for both, and finding synergies would be beneficial. #AI #learning #education #workforce #skills #competences #labourmarket #talentmanagement #careerdevelopment

Half Of All Skills Will Be Outdated Within Two Years, Study Suggests Executives believe nearly half of the skills that exist in today’s workforce won’t be relevant just two years from now, thanks to artificial intelligence. And a lot of that includes their own skills. This startling proclamation came out of a recent survey of 800 executives and 800 employees released by edX, an online education platform. The executives estimate that nearly half (49%) of the skills that exist in their workforce today won’t be relevant in 2025. The same number, 47%, believe their workforces are unprepared for the future workplace. Identifying skills shortages is not a surprising result to come out of an educational platform provider, but the short timespan is an eye-opener. Still, Martin believes, “there will always be a role for the creative mind and the strategic thinker, no matter what. Great ideas and game-changing innovation will still require people to have lightbulb moments and ambitious visions for how to execute. Even as generative AI apps get increasingly advanced, someone will still need to develop prompts, curate the results, and determine how the output will be used.” The creativity required for problem-solving “is also a hugely underrated career skill in any industry,” Martin adds. “Undoubtedly, obstacles will pop up throughout your career. Big or small, human creativity, agility, and tenacity will be required to address them masterfully. This is one area where years of real-world experience may be difficult to replace with AI.”
