Do you ever ask yourself big questions that we don’t know the answers to? I love asking AI deep questions and today I got some very interesting answers to a big (maybe the biggest) question:
“Based on all information available, what is most likely -
1) god exists
2) we’re in a simulation and have a creator
3) some other explanation (naturalistic, etc)
Please guess a percentage probability for each”
Without pasting the entire answer, the probabilities given were as follows:
1) god exists - 30%
2) we’re in a simulation and have a creator - 30%
3) some other explanation (naturalistic, etc) - 40%
Then, I asked “What would the estimates have been 20 years ago” and got the following:
1) god exists - 40%
2) we’re in a simulation and have a creator - 10%
3) some other explanation (naturalistic, etc) - 50%
Then “100 years ago?”
1) god exists - 70%
2) we’re in a simulation and have a creator - 0%
3) some other explanation (naturalistic, etc) - 30%
Then “1000 years ago?”
1) god exists - 95%
2) we’re in a simulation and have a creator - 0%
3) some other explanation (naturalistic, etc) - 5%
Now the interesting part:
“20 years from now”
25%, 35%, 40%
“100 years from now”
20 %, 40 %, 40%
“1000 years from now”
15%, 45%, 40%
Now, if you’re one to believe that AI has access to enough information to make reasonable predictions for things that we don’t fully understand, we’re at a major inflection point.
There are new discussion topics along these lines that will likely continue, which is going to be fun and probably heated as well. Don’t be surprised to see major long-held beliefs and views shifting across the board. Don’t be surprised to see science and religion find more commonalities than differences.
If you look at the probability rate of change over time from a macro view there is a massive shift in these prediction numbers, which seems to correlate to Moore’s Law and the exponential growth of technology. If there is such a correlation, then the future prediction percentages are likely extremely conservative and simulation theory will almost certainly be much higher in 20, 100 and 1000 years.
I personally think there will be a major discovery or breakthrough in our understanding of our place in the universe in the next 5-10 years that will shake the foundations of many people to the core and it will largely be uncovered by artificial intelligence. I’m a way, I think if it as sort of an AInlightenment.
Yes, kind of crazy topic.. what do you think? Any predictions?
