Its not the territory that nations take we should celebrate, but the freedom that people make. Yesterday, AmCham CZ members and our partners celebrated another year of sustained freedom of both the Czech people and American people at our Party of the Free Peoples. The sun shone, and the Vltava flowed past. Ryan Gauci and Robert Grader asked the fantastic chefs of the Hilton Prague & Hilton Prague Old Town hotel and the Marriott Hotels to prepare barbecue, pickled pine tips, Louisiana hot wings, Waldorf salad and more. Martin Binder and Veronika Němcová (Lamperová) of The Coca-Cola Company-Cola poured not only their world famous soft drink, but cocktails, and to keep us going late into the evening, Costa Coffee. We got the speeches over quickly and spent the rest of evening enjoying each other. Business plays an essential role in keeping governments honest and citizens free. Czech people doing business with American people, and Czech businesses investing into America (and vice-versa) connect our two countries in a thousand ways every day. These constant communications and the trust those interactions build are the tensile strength of the bond between us. It is one that cannot be torn by one person or one decision by one government. That is why AmCham believes we should celebrate once a year the bond between our people, now free, and remind all those people who, by forging economic and personal ties, have made the close friendship between our nations possible. And remember the words of Vaclav Havel- "Without free, self-respecting, and autonomous citizens there can be no free and independent nations."
Very nice idea to celebrate our freedom, it was great to see so many people from AmCham community to enjoy the evening!
