Artificial intelligence and machine learning have evolved into entirely different animals since the terms were coined by John McCarthy and Arthur Samuel in the 1950s. The increasing sophistication of programming, the accumulation of understanding of how information works, the vast increase in computing power, and the internet spurred an evolution that now raises hope and fear in equal portions throughout business organizations (and governments). At AmCham CZ's 2024 General Assembly, Michelle Simmons of Microsoft, Michal Pechoucek of Evolution Equity Partners, Tomas Szaszi of Honeywell, Jaroslav Skvrna of Deloitte and Milan Slapak of RSBC Holding led members through an investigation of what constitutes useful AI and how companies can best utilize it. Their insights were supplemented by comments from Martina Kneiflova of EY, Josef Svejda of onsemi, Roman Cabalek of Dell Technologies, Sanjiv Suri of Zátiší Group, and Dalibor Kacmar of Microsoft. Tomas Scerba of DLA Piper not only explained how law firms are implementing AI, but successfully defended the proposition that lawyers are human and will remain human:) What was the chief learning? Join AmCham and find out:) To paraphrase Michal Pechoucek, companies will not lose out to AI. They will lose out to competitors who use AI better than they do. The people in your organization who are telling you that AI is flawed, and subject to hallucinations should be challenged to spend more time finding what AI can do for your organization than finding what AI cannot do for your organization.
