EVERY WEEK IN THE UK & IRELAND, 70 PEOPLE SUFFER AN AORTIC DISECTION. SADLY, HALF DIE. On Sunday 17 September 2023, my friend Simon and I will be running in the Worcester Half Marathon. As part of this, we are hoping to raise awareness and money for The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust. For more information on the charity, click our Just Giving link below, or check out the website: https://lnkd.in/eAGDUBde We are of course grateful for any donations but more importantly we are hoping to raise the profile of the charity, and highlight the importance of genetic testing. An aortic dissection is a time critical-medical emergency that when diagnosed and treated on time has a better than 80% survival rate. 10 lives could be saved per week with the correct diagnosis. For some patients with aortic dissection, there is a hereditary cause. This Friday, June 14th, International Blood Donor Day is dedicated to raising awareness about the critical need for safe blood and blood products. Blood connects all of humanity, so here are a few ways to help save a life, support the healthcare system in your area, and strengthen your community. We encourage all our clients, your staff, blood banks, and healthcare providers across Africa to join us in this life-saving mission. How you can help: 1. Donate blood: Your donation can save lives. Find a local blood donation centre and schedule an appointment. 2. Raise awareness about easy ways to give blood: If you know about a blood drive near you this week (or at any time) - please share it and tag us, and we will share this too.
