This summer marks 11 years working remotely. It’s been one of the biggest blessings 👨🏻💻 For those who don’t know my story, I used to manage a wine shop. One day, I was suddenly let go for reasons beyond my control. After leaving that job, I went to Google and typed in “How do you make money online?” and the rest is history. I started freelance writing (my first gig paid $10,000 over the course of the year). Then, I realized people needed resumes consistently and launched my resume writing & coaching business. I grew that business to 6-figures while traveling around working anywhere with Wifi. Now, I get to help others build a remote career and have that kind of freedom. 🙏 If you’re looking for a remote career, don’t give up. Take the first step and focus on creating that freedom for yourself. If you need help, feel free to reach out. My DMs are open. CC: John Hancock Resumes Escape the Cubicle Newsletter

We need to normalize work/life balance. The day never ends anymore since remote work was introduced. Covid magnified it so much that many corporations think it is normal and expected that the employees work at any hour. Remote work can be great as long as there are boundaries. I can’t do my clinical position remotely and can clock in and out. However, my full time position is always on. We need to normalize the remote work in which the day ends for personal time.

I agree. As a founder, I think people that can work alone or at home or remote - It’s all good. The end of the day if they’re creating opportunity driving sales whatever the case might be and I don’t care if they work 1 hour or 50 hours just as long as they are helping the company grow, create, maintain or making money. Results Driven! These type of personalities are brilliant in their own ways so latch on to it.

It is absolutely baffling how remote work has been going down in the last year even though pandemic was proof enough that remote work does not impact revenue negatively. Hybrid work provides flexibility, equal opportunities and does not limit people who might have otherwise been unable to work.

Wes great post. I used to work remotely even before it was cool. Since pandemic, more so. Although I have an office now for myself, but it is a personal choice. Our company runs fully remote.

Amen. Remote work should not be for the charmed, the elite, the nomads - remote work is for everyone who can do it. I feel it should be an ethical imperative for companies to move their employees to this model.

Where are you working from these days Wes Pearce?

Wes Pearce I’m waiting for the “Yeah, but ‘X’ profession can’t work remotely, so no one should” crowd to chime in.
