Modern farming and the Electrification of Everything (EoE) Despite a cancelled EV tractor event due to wet fields at McIntyre Vineyard, hosted by Monterey Pacific, the few that did gather benefitted from a showing of Farm-ng's Amiga modular robot. This little, but mighty device is amazingly diverse, and infinitely configurable to nearly any agriculture landscape. Amiga fit in the bed of a truck, is super lightweight, and via open code development kit, is not limited to any one function in your ag business. Amiga is further evidence that many of the common/rote tasks performed in ag today will be a) mechanized, and b) electrified, because we can make that "fuel" onsite at our operations. For cash flow dependent business, especially winemaking, as farm labor becomes less plentiful with higher costs, taking advantages of incentives (like the 30-C tax credit - https://lnkd.in/gexQjex7), this is an inevitable trend to get ahead of. Special thanks to Nathan Dorn and Andrea Tinajero who took the time to make it a useful gathering (lemons into lemonade). Thanks also to MONTEREY PACIFIC, INC for the impetus to meet, and looking forward to the rescheduled event when fields are amendable. Did you know- Cover crops are an important component of sustainable viticulture systems as they have a major and direct impact on the health of vines and the surrounding ecosystem. Growing a cover crop minimizes the use of chemicals which may negatively affect the environment and reduce the physical impact of frequently running heavy equipment on vineyard soil. #PHOutdoors #G-Series

An inspiring story of Ifedolapo Runsewe in managing waste into wealth. One of the biggest challenges in Nigeria is waste pollution and waste management in commercial and major cities. According to the World Bank, Nigeria currently generates at least 32 million tonnes of solid waste annually, and this number is projected to rise to 107 million tonnes by 2050. But with everyone's little effort, we will be able to address these challenges. #WastePollution #ClimateAction
🇳🇬 "We make nearly 2 billion tires every year, while old ones continue to pile up. They can act as breeding grounds for mosquitoes and cause hard-to-put-out fires. Some countries recycle a majority of them, and Ifedolapo Runsewe is aiming to get hers to do the same." Farmers protest in London, calling for fair trade and honest labels. As farmers steer their tractors through Westminster, protesting against low-cost imports and deceptive food labelling, it’s a stark reminder of their challenges. Amidst these protests, innovative approaches like vertical farming by Jones Food Company shine a light on sustainable alternatives. With European farmers raising their voices, the message is clear - we need governmental action, supermarket responsibility, and consumer engagement to embrace a more sustainable future!! https://lnkd.in/eR2dPyZS As reported by HortWeek, Double H Nurseries have returned to profitability, by turning down low or no profit 'opportunities'. Well, it isn't rocket science - which is good, because not many rocket scientists work in horticulture - but being busy fools is unlikely to have a positive outcome for the bottom line. Ever. Retail buyers are just doing their job, on behalf of their employers and shareholders. That's understandable. And it is crystal clear that nurseries are run more often by passionate plant-people, rather than great negotiators. But we all need to learn the power of saying "No". Our margins are much too thin, and our production risks are far too high, to be anyone's fool. Well done Double H Nurseries, and Andy Burton. 👏 👏 👏
