Today, Ukrainians are celebrating Constitution Day. Adopted in 1996, it laid the foundation for our sovereignty and democratic principles. This Law represents our commitment to universal human rights, including the right to life and health, honor and dignity, inviolability and security. It recognizes these as the highest values. The Constitution establishes the rule of law and equal rights, ensuring every citizen's voice is heard. For six years, lawmakers prepared the text of the Constitution. The international community recognized it as one of the most democratic in the world. It was the first universally acknowledged Constitution of independent Ukraine and one of the youngest in Europe. We are proud that this important date is finally etched in the calendar of national holidays, in our national identity. It testifies to our indomitable spirit, resilience, and unwavering pursuit of justice and freedom. May every Ukrainian always remember the core values enshrined in our Constitution. These values unite and strengthen us, inspiring us to build a present that honors the past and cares for a better future. Happy Constitution Day of Ukraine!

Inspired by a follower who asked me to remove the European flag from my profile, in reaction to a specific post on Palestine... I have covered 3500 km on foot with the European flag since 2019. We are obviously not all “European” or “pro-European” in the same way. What I stand for are European values, human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and human rights, which I consider universal and not privileges. What I expect is for the EU to honor these values, regardless of political party, within the Union and internationally. As a European and a human, I believe that supporting current Israeli actions towards Palestinian civilians betrays European values and goals, compromises the peace and security of all, as well as our credibility and honor. These terrible events also highlight the weaknesses of our Western democracies in terms of freedom of expression, the right to demonstrate, freedom and independence of the press, police violence... The European flag doesn't belong to a political party! It's yours and mine. Does the Union Jack belong to the Tories? Are non-Conservatives less British than Conservatives? In the next elections, please vote! Of course, that's not enough, but vote! #walkforeurope #vote #Europeanelections #euelections #Europeanvalues #myEurope #EUisU #EUisyou #peoplematter #youmatter #peoplechangetheworld #allactivists

🇵🇱May 3, is of historical importance as Poles around the world celebrate Poland’s written constitution, (1791), the first constitution in Europe and the second such document after the American Constitution. Poles were innovative and insightful as they sought to strengthen the state by implementing the three independent branches of government, executive, legislative and judiciary. Amongst other reforms, the Constitution also abolished certain privileges for the nobility that impeded much needed political reform. The May 3rd Constitution Amongst also established a national standing army. There were other critical reforms aimed at religious tolerance and a ministry of education. Today, there are many analogies. The Polish state and nation need a new responsible political class that will not weaken our position in Europe or in transAtlantic relations. Poland currently has an authoritarian government that is deliberately impeding critical investment and is surrendering our sovereignty to external parties. As Poles, May 3 has taught us bitter lessons (partitions and loss of our state) and let’s hope we do not repeat them with the current ruling authoritarian coalition government under Donald Tusk.
