Recently, several of our Kansas City-area employees participated in the Feed Northland Kids Food Kit Day. We served around 750 bags of groceries, produce, and meat to more than 330 families. Just one more way we work to give back to the places we call home. #FeedNorthlandKids #VolunteeringWithinTheCommunity #OlssonVolunteers

At Denver Food Rescue, we believe that acknowledging the inherent dignity of our program participants is just as important as the food we provide. Our No Cost Grocery Programs, like the one pictured at Thomas Bean Towers, operate using a ‘choice model.’ This means that families get to decide what foods to take home based on what best suits their needs, rather than being handed a box of food that they may be unfamiliar with. We also require no ID or proof of income to get food at our No Cost Grocery Programs. We believe that everyone deserves fresh food, no matter their situation. Lastly, we break away from the traditional ‘food pantry’ model by delivering the food we rescue directly to a No Cost Grocery Program within 2 hours. This means we are able to provide the freshest quality food to our participants, and it enables us to rescue mostly fresh produce. The Idaho Department of Education is seeking sponsors for this year’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). The SFSP provides free meals and snacks to children 18 years and younger by operating sites located in low-income areas during the summer months. Learn more and/or sign up to sponsor a site ⬇️ ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dqwaQ6w According to Feeding America’s 2021 Map the Meal Gap, about 8.6 percent of Idaho’s children have experienced food insecurity. During the summer months, the challenge of reaching children and families in need of nutritional support grows. Sponsors are being sought across the state, especially in #rural areas where coverage gaps exist. The department is partnering with the Idaho Hunger Relief Task Force to increase awareness and recruitment. Needs include: 📍 Region 1: There is a lack of adequate coverage in the communities of St. Maries, Boundary County, Kootenai, Kellogg and Wallace. 📍 Region 2: The only SFSP sponsors in Region 2 are in Lewiston, Lapwai, Moscow and Grangeville. 📍 Region 3: Only the Boise and West Ada school districts, as well as the Boys and Girls Club of Ada County currently cover Ada County. 📍 Region 6: SFSP does not have sponsors in Custer and Teton counties and only one in Lemhi County. #Idaho #education #FullBellies #CuriousMinds #FoodInsecurity #HungerRelief #community #SummerFoodServiceProgram

We have a story in the latest issue of Neighbourhood Media detailing all the work we do via Addison Road Food Pantry Camperdown, our low-cost grocery store which makes use of rescued, donated and purchased food to support the local community and its needs. The story (link below) shows how we help feed people from Mission Australia's Common Ground housing project and the nearby Johanna O’Dea Court, a multi-storey NSW Family and Community Services apartment block. It also explains how we serve people living on a tight budget in Camperdown and Glebe, as well as people who come to the pantry from right across the City of Sydney LGA. Most of all, the story is a celebration of our monthly Addi Road 'Let's Get Cooking' sessions (AKA "the Cook-Up"), which offers 260 free hot meals for Mission Australia and Joanna O'Dea residents, as well as those shopping at our Addi Road Food Pantry Camperdown. These sessions involve a monthly cooking demo inside the Common Ground building. Food literacy is the ultimate goal behind Addi Road's Let's Get Cooking program. As well as simply providing a free hot meal (and dessert) each month, we look at helping people to shop AND cook with often very limited funds. Each month there are easy recipes on offer (and ready to be tasted) along extra tips for stocking people's kitchen cupboards; a list of essentials to facilitate simple, inexpensive and nutritious recipes that will match whatever Addi Road Food Pantry might have in stock. It's about building an integrated food ecology for people battling. With a few extra special ingredients over a shared meal as the community comes together: camaraderie and connection. + #Addiroad #cityofsydney #foodrelief #foodjustice #housing #inequality #Camperdown #Glebe #MissionAustralia #homeless #battling #costofliving #poverty #resilience #mentalhealth #wellbeing #nutrition #diet #charity #community #freemeals #cookingworkshop #volunteers #caring #education #connection #letsgetcooking #neighbourhoodmedia https://lnkd.in/gs7vVEvM

Did you know that one in five children in the U.S. experience food insecurity? For kids that rely on free or reduced-priced meals at school, summer can mean a lack of access to nutritious food. That’s why we’ve joined Albertsons Companies Foundation’s first-of-its-kind coalition of foodbanks, school districts, community organizations, and other partners across the country to help tackle hunger. Check if your household qualifies for $120 for groceries per eligible child through USDA’s new, permanent Summer EBT program at SummerEBT.org

We got our first eggs this weeks! 3 total eggs valued at $1.24 at the grocery store. [They are free range after all!] Now, that feels like a pretty minimal payout. Less than $2 worth of eggs isn't great ROI on: → $100s in coop materials. → 2 months of weekends spent actually building the coop. → Hours & hours caring for very fragile chicks. → Daily responsibility of feeding & watering. But this doesn't tell the whole story. This doesn't consider how raising chickens Checked the box on so many of our family pillars. Having these animals has helped our family: → Slow down & live at 3mph. → Create life-giving rhythms for our kids. → Eat locally-sourced food. → Work together as a team. To many, our decision to get chickens may seem foolish. To us, it's been worth it 100x over. Dads, Fatherhood isn't about doing what everyone else says is best. It's about finding out what's best for YOUR family & kids. Craft your specific vision. Refine your unique values. Live them out consistently every day. What's something unique that you do in your fatherhood that works for your family?? #burnuntamed

Important Update for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) This week only, the Cloudland Elementary School site will distribute meals on Friday, 07/05, instead of Thursday, to accommodate the July 4th holiday. Additionally, please note a policy update: Now, only parents or guardians need to be present to pick up meals. This change does not extend to other family members outside of designated parents/guardians. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! #SummerFoodService #FTHRA #CommunitySupport #HolidaySchedule #ImportantUpdate

Technical Product Owner Value Streams at FIS, USPTA Elite Racquets Pro Winter Park Racquet Club, Pluralsight Certification, CSM/CSPO with UVA Digital Product Certification, Pragmatic Product Manager/Six Sigma BlackBelt.
Hi LinkedIn network, I need to share some news. I have been involved in volunteer work this morning for “Meals on Wheels”, and it was truly rewarding to have the opportunity to help some folks out with their meals. I really appreciate that my company, FIS, encourages us as employees to volunteer. The FIS Volunteer Program grants us volunteer time each year and always encourages civic involvement. The Meals on Wheels program is especially important because many seniors find it challenging to access healthy food or cook nutritious meals. In fact, about 10 million older adults in America face hunger every day. The risk of malnutrition is also increased due to various factors that come up as we age, such as decreased appetite, limited mobility, and dietary restrictions. This is where Meals on Wheels steps in. Meals on Wheels delivers a staggering 251 million meals each year to 2.2 million seniors and counting. It goes beyond just providing a meal; it creates an opportunity to build relationships and strengthen bonds with each individual. This opens the door for local programs to identify and deliver valuable services that promote independence and well-being. Regular meal delivery from Meals on Wheels, whether in the comfort of the home or at a community dining site, provides tailored nutrition, social connection, safety, and more. It is truly a remarkable network that helps our aging neighbors in so many ways. #mealsonwheels #fisproud #volunteering
