Critical issues in NDIA's approach. Let's break down the concerns & gaps that might exist in their strategies, particularly in relation to foundational principles such as person-centered care & self-determination: 1. Financial Management Record Number: EF23/11938 Misalignment with Person-Centered Care: #Financial management focused on revenue & expenditure might prioritize organizational #efficiency over individual participant needs. If financial decisions are not transparent & do not involve participants, it can undermine trust & self-determination. 2. Multicultural Affairs Management Record Number: EF23/13393 Surface-Level Engagement: Internal committee arrangements for RAP might not translate to effective, tangible outcomes for diverse communities if not adequately monitored & enforced. Without genuine inclusion and empowerment, these actions could be seen as tokenistic rather than substantive. 3. National Disability Management A. Compliance Record Number: EF23/21075 Top-Down Approach: Compliance & enforcement focus may lead to a top-down approach, stifling participant autonomy and individualized care. Skills Uplift Program: Without participant input, training programs may not address the real needs of those being served. B. Project Management Record Numbers: EF23/20589 and EF23/20590 Policy Development Without Participant Voice: Policies like the Authorised Persons Policy developed without active participant consultation may not reflect their real-world needs & preferences. Operational Focus: Emphasizing operational efficiency over individual care needs can lead to a system-centric rather than person-centric approach. 4. #NDIS Quality and Safeguards Management A. Policies Record Numbers: EF23/17969, EF23/17334, EF23/13943, EF23/21998, EF23/21997, EF23/20556, EF23/17972, EF23/17971 High-Level #Policies vs. Individual Needs: High-level frameworks might not translate into effective support for individuals if they dont incorporate personalized care plans. Standardized policies can lack the flexibility needed to cater to the #diverse needs of participants, limiting self-determination. B. Reporting Record Number: EF23/15639 Market Oversight vs. Participant Outcomes: Focus on market oversight may prioritize system sustainability over individual participant #outcomes & experiences. Data-driven decisions are beneficial, but if the data does not include participant feedback & real-life outcomes, it misses critical issues affecting self-determination. Participant-Centered #Decision Making: Move beyond #tokenistic actions in reconciliation efforts to genuinely empower diverse communities. Implement feedback mechanisms to ensure participant voices are heard & acted upon. NDIA's current #approach, as highlighted by these records, may be system-focused rather than participant-focused, potentially neglecting the principles of person-centered care and self-determination. https://lnkd.in/gsmBgvvJ

Integrated care boards (ICBs) have a legal duty to ensure that any individuals potentially subject to a deprivation of liberty (DoL) within the community receives appropriate scrutiny, following the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and where needed Court of Protection (CoP) authorisation is obtained. It’s also important that ICB CoPDoL processes and policies are reviewed regularly to ensure continued adherence with the MCA and the European Convention on Human Rights. With the delay to the introduction of the Liberty Protection Safeguards (known as LPS), now is the time for ICBs to look at CoPDoL caseloads and ensure they are meeting all the statutory obligations. It’s a complex and resource demanding area, and we have the skills, expertise, knowledge and values to support you and the individuals under your care putting them and their best interests at the centre of all decisions. And we can process cases without the need for costly legal input. Speak to us today to see how we can support your ICB with your CoPDoL applications. https://lnkd.in/eUFUkkMJ #Courtofprotection #Depravationofliberty #COPDOL #Safeguarding #LibertyProtectionSafeguards #COPDOL11 #Healthcare #HealthcareServices #IntegratedCare #HealthcareCommissioning #HealthcareReviews #PersonalisedHealthcare #HealthcareQuality #HealthcareAssessment #HealthcareTeam #Humanrights #Bestinterests #NHS

Last year the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CCHE) published this really interesting report - ‘The Potential Role of MMC in Addressing Systemic Supply Issues.’ Led by the University of Glasgow, the CCHE aims to highlight challenges in UK housing and promote evidence-based solutions to tackle the issues. The report, which is full of useful insight, brings a much wider view of MMC – how these solutions are used globally and the drivers, including government incentivisation and interventions to promote the use of MMC. Dr Anthony Greer, TALO's Director of Corporate Strategy responds: "Whilst support from the UK Government can be hugely helpful, as offsite manufacturers, we believe we have a responsibility to listen empathetically to our customers and to deliver superior solutions on their terms – regardless of the construction methodology." "Our view is we have yet to see an industry be transformed by product solutions that can be more costly and do not fit customer requirements – regardless of government interventions." You can read the full report, co-authored by Dr Sarah Payne and Dr Bilge Serin, here https://lnkd.in/eNMPZqat #ukhousing #ukconstruction #socialhousing #housebuilding #developers #affordablehousing #mmc #offsite #localauthorities Building Better

Director of Corporate Strategy, TALO | Passionate about raising the standard of UK housebuilding to eradicate fuel poverty
One observation having read this insightful report on the global potential of MMC and reflecting on my work in other sectors including oil and gas, is that I have yet to see any industry be transformed by product solutions that can be more costly and do not fit customer requirements – regardless of government interventions. I believe it is absolutely critical for any business to meet the genuine needs of its customers - including on design, energy efficiency and lead times - and to deliver on cost and quality every time. In my view the MMC sector needs to address these challenges, regardless of government interventions, in order to raise the standard of UK housebuilding, particularly in terms of quality and environmental impact. #housebuilding #ukconstruction #residential #housing https://lnkd.in/em3pMX6z
