Hello Highgate! Chris Williamson has put together a very special day on Sunday 23rd June to discover the architectural highlights of Highgate, one of London's great villages. It begins at 10.30am with a tour of the historic Kenwood House, a former stately home designed by Robert Adam, on the northern boundary of Hampstead Heath. We will be led on a customised tour of the building and its renowned art collection, with works by Rembrandt, Vermeer and Frans Hals, as well as Gainsborough and Reynolds. This will be followed by lunch in the Brew House Café.* After a walk across the Heath to Highgate Village, the group will be met by two local architects, who will give us a guided tour of the modern houses in the village and a small exhibition of Modernism in the area. The afternoon will close with a visit to a performance of new musical, Longitude** at 4pm in the historic theatre above the Gatehouse in the village - there will also be a Q&A with the writer afterwards in the bar. (This part of the day is optional.) Tickets: £48 not including lunch or drinks* or £25 without the theatre performance** For full details and booking, see: https://lnkd.in/eEmQK2VF
