The Sea to Sky Corridor is one big step closer to being a major surfing destination in British Columbia, following last week’s milestone approval of the proposal to build a massive surf park resort, reported Daily Hive. "Proponents of South Britannia received the crucial third reading green light last week from Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, which follows the highly positive response the project earned during the public hearing in early September." "The resort will be built on the area in and around the large gravel site immediately south of Britannia Mine Museum, on the other side of the mountain. The development site is bisected by the Sea to Sky Highway." "The main attraction, of course, is the surf park, which will be a six-acre artificial lagoon that uses the “Cove” surf park technology by Spanish company Wavegarden. Up to 1,000 waves can be generated per hour, with the machinery capable of creating a wide range of wave types and heights based on surfing experience." Definitely is NOT a Domino in the Wave Park World. Who ever mentions it, means that has no clue of the actual and upcoming growth of the Surfpool market. Snowdonia was just an individual case which I prefer not to make any comments. Technology is developing rapidly either by the the actual manufactures which are constantly updating and new technologies will soon be coming into the market. We're yet just in the early beginning of the leisure surfpool market. Just would like to mention as a joke to all market analysers and alarming news. In the 50's how many planes fell down?... did aviation industry fell down? Get real to the upcoming market or you'll be travelling by vapor train and is going to be hard to pass the Atlantic that way. Airplanes are still here as Surfpools will be here for the next generations! So Endless, Wavegarden, Perfectswell, etc. etc. and all new comers. Keep doing your technology updates, because market investors are with you!...

Dear Surfers, About 14 years ago, Billabong released a campaign called “I surf because,” gathering perspectives from some of the foremost professional surfers in response to the question: “Why do you surf?” There were a lot of poignant responses, but the late Andy Irons had the simplest, and perhaps the best, stating “I surf because I’m always a better person when I come in.” Despite watching this clip countless times, sometimes for the surfing, sometimes for the wisdom, I never gave much thought to the question. Why do you surf? Where I’m currently living in the Pacific Northwest, the question becomes even more meaningful. The coastline here takes hours to navigate, circumventing sea cliffs and forest land with the hope that around the corner is just a bit better. The wind and weather cooperate only for small windows at a time, and both the ocean and the solitude have a way of making you feel small. There is every excuse you need not to surf. Regardless, it’s 6 am, and again I’m loading boards and wetsuits into the car. In all likelihood, I’ll soon find myself surfing another day too small, cold, and spooky to justify the two-hour drive, hiking miles through the woods with a surfboard and bear spray, or camping far from cell service, hoping for an hour of good wind before dark. It’s here that I think about why I surf. I surf because I need to. Because it grounds me, inspires me, and nourishes me. Because it provides a lens from which I view the world. Because I, too, think I’m a better person afterwards. And knowing this makes it all the more meaningful. As the weather gets warmer and the days get longer, it’s easy to let excitement take over and find ourselves in routines, however healthy, that form subconsciously. Winter, however, can give us time to slow down, to reflect, and to appreciate what we sometimes take for granted.
