B.I.G. is leading the change towards a greener future by investing €5 million to transition our Cushion Vinyl production facility in Wielsbeke, Belgium, from fossil energy to biomass-generated steam. This transition signifies a major milestone in our journey towards achieving 'net zero' emissions by 2030. Through collaboration with Aspiravi and A&U Energie, a company specializing in converting non-recyclable wood waste into green energy and heat, we aim to reduce the carbon footprint of our Cushion Vinyl facility by 88% compared to current emissions. ⚡ ♻️ At B.I.G., sustainability isn't just a buzzword – it's a commitment. We're actively increasing the use of recycled materials in our solutions and making strides in our green energy initiatives. All this is part of our participation in the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Recently, our targets were validated as science-based by the organization, officially allowing us to move to the next level of the initiative. The SBTi provides a framework for setting emission reduction targets to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement in alignment with the latest climate science. The Deeley Group has taken another step towards its target of being a net zero carbon company by 2036 as it significantly reduced its carbon emissions for another year. ✅ Reduced CO2 emissions by 17 per cent for the last reporting period. ✅ Five-year plan in place to support a consistent year-on-year reduction in carbon emissions. ✅ Reduced the use of motor fuel to the equivalent of 17 tonnes of CO2 Eleanor Deeley, Joint Managing Director of the Deeley Group, said: “Our primary target has been reducing the emissions from our business and those produced directly by Deeley Group, but it’s equally important that we work closely with our clients and partners on their own green policies too. “While we are pleased with the consistent progress we are making, we know there is much more to be done and we will continue to make investments and implement new practices in order to reach our target of being net zero by 2036.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/e3h5vVFp #sustainability #netzero #carbonemissions #carbonreduction #construction #thedeeleyway

Carbon Rivers had an exciting time at this year’s ACI European Wind Blade Recycling Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark! It was a productive two days of networking and discussing the latest developments in wind turbine blade recycling across Europe and the biggest challenges and opportunities for decommissioned wind blades. During one of the conference panels, Carbon Rivers’ Chief Strategy Officer, David Morgan, had the opportunity to speak about the company’s glass fiber reclamation technology.
