The humble press release appears to be the tactic that so-called experts dismiss as passé.
A press release announces to your target audience a significant new product, service, business achievement or upcoming event. It positions you as a player, a winner and a brand that means business.
Here’s why press releases are important to your brand comms:

Before issuing a press release to the press ask yourself: How does this add value to the the readership/viewers/listeners of your target media?
Your announcement should:
1. Provoke thought and deliver an ‘aha’ moment to the target audience 💭
2. Equip the audience with information that makes them able to make better decisions 🙌🏼
3. Reassure stakeholders through explanation, education and factual evidence. ℹ️
If it does none of these things do not send it to journalists. Journalists want facts to build evidenced-based stories. 📰🗞️
Remember to accompany your release with fabulous, arresting, relevant imagery. The more space you take up - the less is available to your competitors.
