One of the quickest ways to have folks become compliant with the status quo or to not rock a boat is to give them an award or some other form of reinforcement to increase compliance behaviors. We recall it well from childhood, as we would often do almost anything to get a gold star on an assignment, “Job well done!” Question: what gold star, award (ie, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony, etc) or other keeps you from saying what you need to say - doing what you need to do to make a difference in your small circle of influence (eg, at your job, social organization, family, etc.)? #goldstar #award #differencemakers #carrot #changemakers #operantconditioning
