This Thursday TALKADHD is looking at How to take control of your #ADHD. It's a big topic. But what does this question mean to you? What does control means to you? What are the questions you'd like to answer? #ADHD #ADHDSupport #adhdpodcast

People with #ADHD: What’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself that you wish you’d known earlier? 🤔 For me, it’s knowing that I need to verbally process things to reach a conclusion. My first idea is probably not the best, the most accurate, or the most articulate. Getting to talk through my thought process with someone who understands this intent is a GAME changer for me. (This is also why I hate being put on the spot during important discussions! Give me a minute to consider all the options in advance.) What about you? #RevFlix

When I asked this question, I wasn't certain how those with #ADHD diagnoses would reply, but I believed quite a bit in #TDD as having systems within it to make two things safer: - forgetting - becoming distracted I became interested in this topic when I first read _The Power of Full Engagement_. (The title sounds bad; I liked the book very much.) The message of managing energy by reducing stress spoke deeply to me. It seems clear to me that making it safer to forget and become distracted helps on two levels: - surface: easier to use one's time and energy both more effectively and efficiently - one layer deeper: less likely to tell stories to oneself about how ineffective and inefficient one is due to forgetting things "too often" or becoming distracted "too easily" I'm glad for the confirmation, then! Tricks such as test lists and one new failing test at a time from #TDD in particular _and_ Inbox Technique and working in shorter bursts more generally seem to help a wide variety of folks, whether they have an #ADHD diagnosis or don't. I like to have the free option to forget things and become distracted without losing my spot and without feeling bad about myself. This isn't because I want to forget things and become distracted, but because I want to reduce the cost of forgetting things and becoming distracted, particularly on those days where to coffee hasn't kicked in, I haven't slept well, or I've just fought with someone on the internet.
I'm curious about the relationship between #TDD and #ADHD. If you have a diagnosis of #ADHD and write code, how does #TDD or the idea of #TDD seem to you? Does it provide structure that you find helpful? Does it seem wildly unrealistic for you? What else would you like to say about it? (I have no diagnosis. I'm merely interested in how it feels for those who do.)

I have a lot to say about this. I have begun writing something that may become an article or blog post, or maybe even longer. Anyone interested in this topic feel free to reach out to me. #testdrivendevelopment #adhd #tdd

@thruday - Assistive Daily Planning for Neurodiverse Brains | #Autistic #ADHD #Epileptic #Neurodivergent #Founder
I’ve got a little bit of Neurofuzz today 🧠💭 I’ve spent all week iterating Thruday’s assistive visual daily planner app and worked myself a little bit too hard! On the plus note; ✅ We located an obscured bug that likely affect every dark mode user and issued fixes ✅ We expanded our image library with over 3000 new choices covering a range of subjects ✅ We have added activity templates that make it easier to get your shedule setup with just a few clicks ✅ We are retraining our image suggestion AI to be more accurate and include our new icons too ✅ We are still free! Overall it’s been a busy week but progress has been solid, time to take a break before I overwork myself. You know what they say, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy If you have not seen what I’ve been working on yet; Head over to https://thruday.com #progress #achievement #adhd #autistic #epileptic #neurodiverse #ceo #founder
